OSRAM LED produces warm white light, high efficiency, true colors
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has developed an LED that offers high efficiency, excellent color rendering and a pleasant warm white light. The prototype is the first to offer the three important properties that together are essential for general illumination applications, namely a color temperature of 3000 K, a color rendering index of 82 and an efficiency of 104 lm/W.
SFH 5712 - OSRAM introduces ambient light sensor with digital I²C output
The SFH 5712 from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is a low-voltage digital ambient light sensor that converts light intensity to digital signal output capable of direct I2C interface, detecting ambient brightness in the same way the human eye does. It is the only sensor on the market that offers not only standard data rates but also high speed rates of up to 3.4 MHz. An integrated circuit in the sensor automatically provides a measured value between 3 ...
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors to Showcase LED innovations in Hong Kong Lighting Fair 2009
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has announced its broad participation at the exhibition and seminar of Hong Kong International Lighting Fair 2009. HK Lighting Fair is one of the largest lighting shows in Asia. Held from October 27 to 30, the fair will feature over 1,700 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions. OSRAM is going to showcase products ranging from LED components to LED luminaires for commercial and consumer markets.
Super low-profile OLED developed in research project
The OLED prototypes that OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has developed as part of a research project are large transparent light sources only a few hundred micrometers thick. Thanks to new technology these organic light emitting diodes do not need separate encapsulation and can be made incredibly thin in any layout. The transparent test samples have a luminous area of 210 cm² and are already showing the enormous potential of OLED light sources. They o...

South Korea’s Wonju City Selects GALED Featuring OSRAM Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs for Country’s Longest LED Street Lamp Installation
Wonju City in Gwang Won province, South Korea, installed LED street lamps in line with the Korea government’s call to implement more energy efficient solutions. The installation of PRAUS 150W streetlights with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs represent the longest LED street light installation to-date in Korea.
OSRAM’s LEDs Enable Manufacture of Ultra-Thin LCDs
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has introduced what it says is the smallest 1 W LEDs for backlighting LCD panels with plenty of light from an extremely small emitter. Measuring just 3 x 3 x 1.6 mm, the two white versions of the new OSLON LX LEDs are perfect for side injection into light guides with a thickness of 2 to 4 mm so the displays can be made with ultra thin profiles. Thanks to the optimized lens, the light can be injected into light guides w...
