New heatsink design from Ohmite
Aware that thermal management is an important part of environmental care, and that anything which doesn’t require the use of electricity in order to maintain acceptable temperatures, is likely to be welcomed by design engineers, Ohmite has launched the first of a range of heatsinks which not only meet these requirements, but also save time and money.
Ohmite's high power resistor has been designed with Europe in Mind
Designed specifically with high current applications in mind, Ohmite’s new wirewound tubular lug resistor range, the E Series, is available with three durable coating options; lead-free vitreous enamel, silicone-ceramic and the patented, flameproof Centohm cement which is designed to withstand temperatures as high as 2000°C.
Current sense resistor from Ohmite combines two technologies
Expanding its metal foil/metal element construction into higher power levels, Ohmite has combined the internal technology of their new FCSL Series with the TO-220 packaging of their TBH Series to achieve handling in excess of 25A. This creates a resistor which is designed for a variety of applications requiring intermediate heatsinkable power at an economical price.
Current Sense Resistors from Ohmite
Using metal resistive elements made from Nickel-Chromium or Cupron (Manganin-Copper) the new MCS Series of SMD flip chip resistors from Ohmite have a very low TCR of <50ppm/°C over the range of current sense values which are popular in portable, battery operated equipment and power supplies.
Manufacturing process reduces resistor size
By introducing new, high temperature materials in the manufacture of their resistors, Ohmite is able to supply a new 4 watt resistor in what is close to a 3 watt package size. The resistor manufacturer argues that since most design engineers derate their components by as much as 50% to increase circuit reliability, the new 14AFR will allow for a smaller package size than existing products.
Metal Foil resistor series from Ohmite
Ohmite has launched its first Metal Foil resistor series designed to meet the demands, among other applications, of manufacturers of battery powered devices who are looking for tight tolerances for the accurate measurement of current draw and a low TCR so that the resistor value will not drift too much as temperatures increase.
Resistors have very low resistance
Ideal for many current monitoring and precision control applications, Ohmite’s new TGHG Series SOT-227 type resistors are available in resistance values as low as 0.0005 ohms. The non inductive, thick film power resistors, when used with the appropriate heatsink, are equally suited to high power current monitoring up to100W. Providing highly reliable, non inductive performance the TGHG features a four terminal Kelvin connection to isolate m...
NEW CLIP MOUNTING METHOD DESIGNED FOR OHMITE’S TK/TN RESISTORS IS THERMALLY SUPERIOR
A new method of heatsinking has been developed by Ohmite which is proving popular with design engineers because it solves the problem creating a gap if the screw is overtightened when installing conventional TO-220 resistors and creates optimal thermal transfer between the resistor (or semiconductor) and the heatsink.
Ohmite launches design discussion blog
US resistor manufacturer has established a blog to enable engineers and designers to talk to each other and discuss design ideas or problems.
Resistors for rugged applications
Ohmite’s new G Series capacitor discharge and symmetry resistor range has been specially designed to handle the requirements of repetitive pulse loading, the G Series provides high power dissipation up to 13W at 25°C.
Heatsinkable Thin Film Power Resistor from Ohmite
Ohmite has produced what it claims to be the industry’s first thin film power resistor in heatsinkable packaging. The TK/TN Series also offers other major advantages over existing TO-220 products, namely, low resistance values down to 0.03 ohms for current sense applications and low cost.
SURFACE MOUNT RESISTORS FROM OHMITE HAVE
Bringing precision high voltage capabilities to the benefits of surface mount, Ohmite's new MacroChip resistors have a non-inductive design combined with a low voltage coefficient.
Non-inductive thick film power resistor
Ideally suited for high frequency and pulse load applications Ohmite’s new TGH Series non-inductive thick film power resistor is available in 120 or 200 Watt, 2 or 4 terminal versions.
85W Heat Sinkable Resistor keeps its Cool
The latest from Ohmite’s product range to use its innovative thick film technology is the TFH85, a heat sinkable resistor which provides a robust 85W power rating (at 25°C case temperature) in a compact TO-264 package.
Ohmite extends resistor range
The newly extended TFS Series of resistors from Ohmite has been specifically designed and developed to absorb much more energy compared to standard film resistors. Ideal for medical surge protection applications, these low profile, thick film resistors offer non-inductive performance in an axial package.
NEW PRECISION ALLOY BARE ELEMENT
The new 610 and 650 Series four terminal bare element resistors from Ohmite provide ultra low resistance values (to 0.005 ohms) for relatively high current requirements.
OHMITE INTRODUCE MIL SPEC RESISTORS
Designed to meet the exacting requirements of military specification MIL-R-93, the new P Series moulded precision wirewound resistors from Ohmite offers high stability and low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR).
COST, WEIGHT AND SPACE SAVINGS
With ratings from 90-330 watts, the new range of WFH flat, heatsinkable, wirewound resistors from Ohmite offer cost savings, weight and space savings, plus superior thermal efficiencies over conventional aluminum housed resistors.
CNC SPOT WELDING MAINTAINS CONSISTENCY
The new WH/WN/WL series miniature moulded axial leaded wirewound resistors from Ohmite uses the high purity (96% Alumina) ceramic cores with wire winding which are spot welded by CNC machine tools to ensure total operational consistency throughout.
Low-profile resistors available in six standard sizes
Specifically designed and developed to absorb more energy than standard film resistors, the new TFS Series from Ohmite is said to be ideal for medical surge protection applications and for the replacement of standard carbon composition resistors.
