Funding totalling £2 million has been awarded to four innovative organisations to develop state-of-the-art remote sensing technologies designed for defence, security, and nuclear decommissioning purposes.

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has awarded contracts totalling £30million to drive innovation and research into new techniques to deliver safe, sustainable and cost-effective decommissioning.

‘Spot’ is a robotic quadruped from Boston Dynamics described as a ‘mobile agile robot’. It negotiated pitch-black conditions and several flights of stairs to complete this latest challenge.

On 14 June 2023, the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) held the Remote Monitoring of Sensitive Sites demonstration event at the Harwell Satellite Applications Catapult.
