Memfault, provider of IoT reliability platform, has announced an extension of its partnership with Nordic Semiconductor to give Bluetooth Low Energy developers building on nRF52 and nRF53 Series simple access to Memfault’s device reliability engineering capabilities.

It’s a bold claim, but 2019 should see cellular IoT finally become a large-scale commercial reality. It has been announced by Nordic Semiconductor, that OneMeter, an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) startup, has selected Nordic’s nRF51822 Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) System-on-Chip (SoC) to provide the wireless connectivity for its ‘OneMeter Beacon’, a device that provides companies with the ability to monitor and manage their energy usage data in ‘real time’.

Developed by Finnish startup, Anicare, the Anicare Healtag tracker is attached to an animal's earflap and can autonomously measure different vital functions for up to five years. Data is sent via cellular direct to the Cloud for immediate access via a smartphone app so that injured or ill animals in the wild can be automatically identified for rescue and treatment.
