Design software is easier to use, delivers data faster
Designers of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), radio-frequency printed circuit boards (RF PCBs) and modules will be the target audience for the V12 NI AWR Design Environment. V12 was previewed for the first time at International Microwave Symposium 2015 (IMS2015) in May 2015, creating significant interest. Feedback from early-access customers has been positive.
Automated test conference is free to attend
Registration is now open for the Automated Test Summit 2015, hosted by National Instruments on Thursday July 2 at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading, UK. This free-to-attend industry technical conference allows engineers and test managers to learn more about the top trends and technologies influencing automated test.
Monitoring/Maintenance under discussion at summit
National Instruments will host its first European Condition Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance Summit from July 6-10 2015. This virtual summit explores how the risk and cost of failure is increasing, and why more companies are turning to 24/7 on-line predictive maintenance to improve the effectiveness of their workforce, while reducing downtime.
Wireless Innovation Lab opens its doors
NI has opened a Wireless Innovation Lab at its Austin headquarters.NI will pursue collaborations with top academic and industry research groups participating in its RF/Communications Lead User program. Researchers at Intel, Lund University, Nokia Networks, NYU Wireless, Samsung, The University of Texas at Austin and TU Dresden are driving significant advances in the development of next-generation wireless systems and furthering research in 5G.
NI revenues edge ahead in Q1
Orders above $100,000 rose 37 per cent year on year to buoy NI’s Q1 revenue. The company announced total Q1 revenue of $289 million, up 2 percent year over year in US dollar terms and up 8 percent YOY in constant currency terms. In Q1 2015, NI received $3 million in orders from its largest customer compared with $12 million in orders from this customer in Q1 2014.
4-slot, 8-slot controllers come in rugged form factor
NI’s new CompactDAQ 8-slot controller expands the CompactDAQ controller offering to meet high-channel count applications in rugged environments. By integrating the processor, signal conditioning and I/O into a single CompactDAQ system, engineers can reduce overall system cost and complexity while increasing measurement accuracy.
Brush up your graphical programming development skills
National Instruments is inviting engineers and scientists to improve their graphical programming skills by attendingLabVIEW Developer Days. These are free, one day professional development events held in 12 locations throughout Northern Europe. As well as providing in-depth technical presentations and valuable programming tips for new and experienced users, LabVIEW Developer Days also gives attendees the opportunity to network with fellow program...
NI buys BEEcube to strengthen 5G technology position
Seeking to strengthen its position in 5G wireless technology NI has acquired BEEcube, a technology innovator and leading supplier of high-performance FPGA prototyping and deployment products for advanced wireless research, wireless infrastructure and military/defence applications.
Eight-core processor boosts PXIe controller test performance
NI has unveiled the NI PXIe-8880 controller, which is based on the Intel Xeon processor, and the NI PXIe-1085 chassis, the industry’s first chassis that uses PCI Express Gen 3 technology. The combination of the eight-core, server-class Intel Xeon processor E5-2618L v3 and full system bandwidth of 24 GB/s delivers high performance for computationally intensive and highly parallel applications such as wireless test, semiconductor test and 5G ...
NI, Cobham Wireless seal PXI deal
Cobham Wireless and National Instruments (NI) have sealed an agreement to collaborate on PXI technology. The deal is that NI acquires the existing Cobham PXI modular instruments hardware product line. The acquired PXI modular instruments will be manufactured by NI and supplied exclusively to Cobham for sale through the Cobham Wireless business unit’s direct sales channels and brand.
NI beats revenues record in 2014
NI has reported record revenues of $1,24bn, up 6 per cent on 2013 and a profit of $126m. Strong revenue growth in LabVIEW, PXI, RF and CompactRIO products in the fourth quarter drove sales up 11 per cent year on year to $333m. The company posted a profit of $43m for the quarter.
NI and CERN join forces on Linux initiative
