Murata has added to its expansive range of advanced power solutions, with a new series of surface mount DC/DC converters. Comprising nine different models, the lightweight units in the MGJ2 series each have a two watt power rating and are supplied in compact, low-profile form factor modules with 19.49x14.99x4.39mm dimensions.
Partnership to develop LoRa energy autonomous platforms
Murata and Nowi have entered a strategic partnership that aims to enable and simplify the development of sustainable LoRa energy autonomous IoT platforms for use in ‘Plug & Forget’ solutions. The importance of energy harvesting for IoT platforms is becoming increasingly evident, as it plays a critical role in increasing the lifetime, usability and viability of IoT devices.
RFID track and trace solution enables stage asset management
Murata ID Solutions’ RFID trace and track technology has been used by the historic Parma opera house, the Teatro Regio di Parma, to gain real time visibility and control over valuable stage assets, produced in the last 30 years by the theatre. The technology is being used to improve storage and inventory management and allows the theatre to identify exactly where each item is located, giving reassurance when valuable items are used in co-pr...
Ultra-compact PTC thermistor solution for space-limited designs
Murata has expanded its portfolio of Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) surface-mount chip thermistors for overheat sensing by introducing the PRF03BB541NB7RL. These thermistors are optimised for incorporation into various forms of consumer electronic products and equipment such as wearable technology, smartphone handsets and tablets.
6-DoF XYZ-axis MEMS-based inertial sensor with digital SPI interface
Murata has announced the introduction of a 6-DoF (Degrees of Freedom) MEMS-based XYZ-axis inertial sensor for high precision machine control and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) positioning support. The SCHA63T features a digital SPI interface, enabling engineers to deliver industrial equipment with robust and reliable, centimetre-level positioning accuracy, even in environments where there is high mechanical shock and vibration.
Multistack LPWAN kit eases smart city design applications
Murata, in cooperation with technology partner Sentinum, has introduced a multistack development kit for low-power wide area network (LPWAN) implementations. The Yamori dev kit features an array of wireless modules from Murata’s expansive portfolio to accelerate evaluation activity. This allows various IoT-related LPWAN application criteria to be addressed via a single multifaceted platform.
Low ESL chip MLCCs for ADAS applications
Murata has introduced the ultra-thin LW reversed, low equivalent series inductor (ESL) multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) with a capacitance value of 1.0µF ±20% for 4VDC-rated automotive applications.
Ferrite chip beads for automotive applications
Murata has announced the release of the BLM18KN_EH series of ferrite chip beads for noise suppression in power lines at temperatures up to 175°C. Target applications are automotive equipment such as engine and transmission electronic control units (ECUs) and turbo motor controllers, with the components meeting AEC-Q200 qualification requirements.
Metal terminal type MLCCs with high voltage tolerance
Murata Electronics has announced the availability of two new metal terminal type MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitor) with temperature compensating U2J characteristics. The KCM line for automotive applications delivers low loss and excellent stability performance in high temperature, high voltages, and high frequencies.
TMR magnetic sensors offer enhanced accuracy
Murata is now including in its portfolio advanced 1D linear and 2D angular sensor devices from Crocus Technology based on tunnel magnetic resistance (TMR) technology.
RFID helps transparency of pharmaceutical supply chain
Murata ID Solutions has helped Bayer leverage radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking in the first large-scale application of the technology in the pharmaceutical supply chain. The pioneering project has enabled Bayer to gain real-time visibility over its distribution processes to optimise customer service, improve product security and asset tracking, and enhance response to unprecedented threats.
Partnership delivers MBN52832 embedded Bluetooth module
Murata announces the integration of Wirepas Mesh, the wireless connectivity software focused on industrial grade, large-scale IoT applications, with its MBN52832 embedded Bluetooth Module, creating a scalable solution for low-power sensor networks.
Selecting the most appropriate LPWAN protocol
Projections show that the trend for people living in urban, rather than rural, environments will continue, with hundreds of millions relocating to cities over the next few decades. Consequently, the demands being placed on local amenities and the rate at which available resources are consumed are both rising dramatically – and this, in turn, is putting intense strain on the existing infrastructure. Koichi Sorada, Product Manager and Pawan J...
