Midsummer's thin film solar cell mega factory to open in Flen

The municipality of Flen in central Sweden has been chosen by Swedish manufacturer of thin-film solar cells  Midsummer as the location for its new 200MW mega factory for the production of thin film solar cells for the European market.

Research on Perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cells yields 24.9% efficiency

Based on a commercial CIGS solar cell, Midsummer engineers, by working with researchers at Prof. Yang Yang’s laboratory of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), have demonstrated a four-terminal perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cell reaching 24.9% efficiency.

Increased radius enhances solar cells

Midsummer has developed its solar cells by increasing the radius of the rounded cell from 90 to 100mm. This reduces the unused area of the module from eight to just two percent, thus increasing the power (W) by six percent per area without increasing production costs.

Off-grid solar energy system to power rural school

Swedish solar energy technology company Midsummer has decided to support a charity school project in the rural Matopos area of southern Zimbabwe. In cooperation with the Paul & Eszter Karaszi Education Foundation, Midsummer will equip a new computer centre and library at the White Water secondary school with an entire off-grid solar energy system.

Solar energy leader receives repeat order from Asia

Solar energy technology provider Midsummer, developer and supplier of advanced solar solutions, has received a repeat order from Asia for production equipment worth about 30 MSEK. A partial payment will be made within 30 days. The production equipment will be delivered to the customer during the first half of 2019.

Solar cells to power sports arena in Sweden

Swedish solar energy expert Midsummer has been selected as supplier of flexible CIGS solar cells to be installed at the Vikingahallen sports arena in Märsta by the Sigtuna Municipality. Fasadglas AB's subsidiary FG Light Energy AB has been picked as the prime contractor and will carry out the installation of the solar cells from Midsummer on the sports arena.
