Use magnetic sensor ICs to develop next-gen HMIs

In order to support the innovative MLX90393 programmable magnetic sensor IC, Melexis has announced an EVB. The MLX90393 EVB provides a platform for constructing a wide variety of HMIs, from relatively simple slide, push/pull and linear swipe switches through to more complex 3D sensing systems, such as joysticks or rotary knobs with push functions included.

MEMS sensors measure pressure in harsh environments

Combining high sensitivity and strong linearity, two MEMS-based pressure sensors have been introduced by Melexis. The AEC-Q100 qualified MLX90815 and MLX90816 measure absolute pressure in demanding operational environments such as automotive pressure monitoring applications, industrial process controls, domestic appliances, medical equipment and consumer electronics gadgetry.

Initiator IC integrates immobiliser functionalilty

Utilising its expertise in wireless technology and passive entry/start systems for automotive, Melexis introduces the MLX74190. This LF initiator IC, consists of two high power, independently programmable LF drivers plus built-in immobilisers. The device is suited for wireless communication deployments requiring power efficient operation, such as automotive, safety and building automation.

1.35MP CMOS image sensor enhances automotive safety

Designed for automotive safety applications, the MLX75421 Blackbird has been introduced by Melexis. This High Dynamic Range (HDR) image sensor provides an extensive set of on-chip functional safety (ASIL) support functions, making it suitable for automatic emergency braking, electronic mirrors/camera monitor systems, autonomous evasive steering and next-gen viewing applications.

Directly connect Hall effect sensor into automotive designs

Incorporating amplifier, analogue output and internal compensation circuits, Melexis has announced the MLX90290 linear Hall sensor IC. The monolithically integrated magnetic sensor IC converts magnetic flux into an analogue output, guaranteeing critical functional parameters to absolute levels, simplifying integration by removing the need for end-of-line calibration.

Hall effect sensor doesn't need a PCB or discrete components

Able to be directly implemented into the design without a PCB or supplementary board level components, a new version of the MLX92242 Hall effect sensor IC has been introduced by Melexis. With a built-in capacitor, the sensor IC does not increase the overall dimensions or require additional soldering.

Melexis brings 3D vision to automotive infotainment

Melexis and SoftKinetic announce the first time of flight (ToF) 3D sensor for automobile safety and infotainment markets. The MLX75023 sensor, featuring SoftKinetic technology and manufactured in Melexis’ Automotive grade CMOS mixed signal process, is the highest resolution 3D sensor available. It works in full sunlight, making it a suitable solution for a vehicle’s cockpit.

The highly integrated device combines a voltage regulator (supporting a wide operating voltage range), Hall sensing element and a current sink-configured output driver all in a single compact, low-profile package.

LIN transceiver IC addresses multiple LIN system demand

Due to the the growth of Local interconnect network (LIN) nodes in cars, which result in master modules controlling multiple LIN buses, Melexis have introduced a 2 and 4-channel LIN transceiver IC. The MLX80002/4 can reduce system costs of the LIN physical layer by 20% compared to multiple single transceiver ICs found in, for example, a body control module (BCM).

Custom Hall effect sensors at off-the-shelf prices

Allowing magnetic switching thresholds to be configured (including hysteresis), the MLX92231 and MLX92211 digital Hall effect sensors from Melexis are factory pre-programmed to precise Hall effect switch or latch specifications. This enables tailored results that match the customer’s specific application requirements without the cost usually associated with custom solutions.
