Linear Technology Corporation has announced the LT8602, a 42V input capable, high efficiency quad output synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. Its quad channel design combines two high voltage 2.5 and 1.5A channels with two lower voltage 1.8A channels to provide four independent outputs, delivering voltages as low as 0.8V.
µModule regulator's low profile suits PCIe & AMC
Linear Technology Corporation has introduced the LTM4622, a dual 2.5A or single 5A step-down µModule regulator in a small and ultrathin package. Only three capacitors and two resistors are required, and the solution occupies less than 1cm² single-sided or 0.5mm² on a double-sided PCB. Housed in a 6.25x6.25x1.82mm LGA package, the LTM4622 includes a switching DC/DC regulator, MOSFETs, inductors and supporting circuitry.
SEPIC/boost DC/DC converter suits always-on applications
Linear Technology Corporation has announced the LT8494, a current mode, fixed frequency SEPIC/boost DC/DC converter with an internal 2A, 70V switch. Ultralow quiescent current of only 7µA makes the device suitable for always-on automotive or other industrial battery powered systems. The LT8494 starts up from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 32V and once running it operates from inputs from 1 to 60V.
Battery charger controller supports digital telemetry
Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC4015, a highly integrated, high voltage multichemistry synchronous step-down battery charger controller with onboard telemetry functions. The device efficiently transfers power from a variety of input sources, such as wall adapters and solar panels, to a Li-Ion/Polymer, LiFePO4 or lead-acid battery stack and system load up to 35V.
Powered device interface controllers suit forward/flyback topologies
Linear Technology has introduced the LT4276 LTPoE++, PoE+ and PoE-compliant Powered Device (PD) interface controllers for applications requiring 2 to 90W of delivered power. The LT4276 integrates a PD controller and an isolated switching regulator controller, capable of synchronous operation in both forward and flyback topologies with auxiliary power support.
100A μModule regulator offers 70ms power up time
Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTM4676A, a dual 13A or single 26A, current shareable up to 100A μModule step-down DC/DC regulator with PMBus serial digital interface. The digital interface enables system designers and remote operators to command and supervise a system’s power condition and consumption.
EEPROM addition allows temperature IC to stand alone
Linear introduces the LTC2984, a high performance digital temperature measurement IC that directly digitises RTDs, thermocouples, thermistors and external diodes with 0.1°C conformity and 0.001°C resolution. The LTC2984 builds on Linear’s LTC2983 by adding Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) that stores user configuration data and custom sensor coefficients.
Supercapacitor charger features bidirectional operation
A bidirectional, programmable input current buck-boost supercapacitor charger with active charge balancing for 1- or 2-series supercapacitors has been introduced by Linear Technology. The proprietary low noise buck-boost topology does the work of two separate switching regulators, saving size, cost and complexity.
µModule regulator is PMBus-compatible
A dual 9A or single 18A µModule step-down DC/DC regulator with PMBus serial digital interface has been introduced by Linear Technology. The LTM4675 features an I²C-based interface, which enables system designers and remote operators to command and supervise a system’s power condition and consumption.
Simultaneous sampling SAR ADC offers flexibility
Linear has introduced the LTC2348-18, an 18-bit, 8-channel simultaneous sampling SAR ADC with industry-leading performance and flexibility. While converting eight channels at 200ks/s per channel throughput, each SoftSpan input can be independently configured on a conversion-by-conversion basis to accept ±10.24, 0 to 10.24, ±5.12, or 0 to 5.12V signals.
Rugged linear regulator features increased SOA
Linear has announced the LT3088, a rugged 800mA wide VIN-range linear regulator. The device has an extended Safe Operating Area (SOA) compared to existing regulators, making it suitable for high input-to-output voltage and high output current applications where older regulators limit the output. The LT3088 uses a current source reference for single resistor output voltage settings and output adjustability down to 0.
Simplify Li-Ion battery backup systems
A lithium battery backup power management system for 3.5-5V supply rails that must be kept active during a main power failure has been introduced by Linear Technology. Batteries provide considerably more energy than supercapacitors, making them superior for applications which require backup for extended periods of time.
Resolve address conflicts without additional software coding
A family of I²C/SMBus address translators that enable multiple slaves with identical addresses to individually communicate with the master without conflicts has been introduced by Linear Technology.
Reference design kit reduces IC count, time & cost
Linear has introduced an IO-Link (IEC 61131-9) reference design kit, which includes the DC2228A 8-port IO-Link master and DC2227A IO-Link device reference designs. With over 2.19m IO-Link nodes installed worldwide, the growing demand for larger networks is addressed by the reference design kit, which reduces IC count, development costs and time to market.
µModule regulator targets sub-28nm FPGAs
A dual 18A or single 36A µModule regulator with high precision output voltage regulation for 28nm and sub-28nm FPGAs, ASICs and MPUs has been released by Linear Technology.
