The open source collaborative engineering organisation developing software for the ARM ecosystem, Linaro, has announced the availability of the HiKey 960 96Boards development platform from Linaro Core member Huawei. Designed to provide access to the latest ARM mobile technology for AOSP developers, this new board is now listed on the 96Boards website and will become available through global distribution channels.

Linaro Limited announced that Guizhou Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology Co. (HXT Semiconductor) has joined Linaro as a member of the Linaro Enterprise Group (LEG). “We’re very pleased to welcome HXT Semiconductor as a LEG member and we look forward to helping them accelerate the deployment of ARM based server solutions into China’s cloud computing and data center industries,” said George Grey, Linaro CEO.

Announcing the launch of the Linaro IoT and Embedded (LITE) Segment Group, Linaro are working in collaboration with industry leaders. LITE will focus on delivering end to end open source reference software for more secure connected products, ranging from sensors and connected controllers to smart devices and gateways, for the industrial and consumer markets.

Linaro has announced the rollout of an ARMv8 based Developer Cloud today at Linaro Connect in Bangkok. In collaboration with its silicon, server and software members, Linaro is providing developers with access to a cloud-based native ARM development environment, which can be used to design, develop, port and test server, cloud and IoT applications without substantial upfront hardware investment.
