Isola Group has announced that its Astra MT laminate materials have been successfully evaluated with Freescale Semiconductor radar ICs. Freescale, a leader in ICs for ADAS 77GHz radar, teamed with RFbeam Microwave to perform the evaluation. Isola will demonstrate an example in booth 1135 at the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2015.

Isola has expanded its portfolio of halogen-free laminates and prepregs for high-end mobile applications with IS350MD, which slots into the range between Isola’s well-established standard Dielectric constant (Dk) material, DE156, and the company’s ultralow Dk material, IS300MD, which was introduced in 2014 and quickly gained momentum in the High Density Interconnect (HDI) market.

Isola Group has announced the introduction of Chronon, the company’s latest ultra-low loss, high-speed laminate and prepreg materials engineered to mitigate skew issues in high-speed designs that have differential pairs. The introduction of Chronon, which follows the 2014 launch of Gigasync, expands the company’s portfolio of PCB materials to mitigate skew in high-speed designs.

Isola Group today announced the successful completion of Class 2 testing of laminate materials for Conductive Anodic Filament (CAF) resistance; the laminate materials were constructed with glass fabric woven at Isola Fabrics, a subsidiary of Isola Group S.à r.l.

After working in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), Isola now complies with the ESA's specification for a cleaner class of base materials. Known as Appendix A, the standard defines the additional requirements to the Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits’ standard IPC-4101-D: Specification for Base Materials for Rigid and Multilayer Printed Boards.

In response to the shortages of RF substrates, Isola has announced that it has increased production of its RF-related materials and will offer a conversion service for PCB manufacturers of RF and millimeter-wave applications. The company claim that while other laminate suppliers have extended their lead-times to as long as 12 weeks, it's materials are in stock and ready to ship.

Isola Group has announced the introduction of Tachyon-100G laminates and prepregs, which enable line cards required to transmit 100GbE at data rates in excess of 25Gb/s per channel. Isola has announced a technology-licensing programme to mitigate conductive anodic filamentation (CAF) problems in the fabrication of PCBs. Offered by Isola USA, this proprietary manufacturing technology reduces the number of voids in resin-impregnated dielectrics - a major source of CAF failures.

Designed to reduce insertion loss on high-speed digital designs, the Tachyon product from Isola has begun alpha testing. It is targeted at high-layer count backplanes for the growing 100Gbps market that has channel data rates in excess of 25Gbps.
