Partner programme simplifies delivery of optical networking
A partner program has been launched by Infinera to simplify bringing innovative optical networking technology to end-users facing growing bandwidth demands. The Infinera Partner Program offers channel partners an application-optimised portfolio spanning access, metro, long-haul, DCI and subsea networks while improving partners’ ability to build and grow their business.
Infinera joins Optical Internetworking and Open Networking Foundation
A provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, Infinera, announced it has joined the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) to demonstrate multi-vendor, multi-layer software defined networking (SDN) Transport Application Programming Interface (T-API) interoperability with the Infinera Xceed Software Suite and the DTN-X Family of packet optical transport platforms.
Data centre interconnect extended through capacity engine
A provider of intelligent transport networks, Infinera, has introduced the Cloud Xpress 2 addressing the market demand for scalable 100GbE Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) over multi-terabit optical links.
The first deployment of the Infinera Mobile Fronthaul Solution
Infinera has announced the first deployment of the Infinera Mobile Fronthaul Solution in Malaysia. With the recently deployed Infinera Mobile Fronthaul Solution, PCS now offers mobile operators high-bandwidth mobile fronthaul as part of its innovative mobile wholesale service from the central office all the way to a shared cell tower.
The world's longest terrestrial optical network route
Infinera announced that Facebook deployed an Infinera Intelligent Transport Network to light the world's longest terrestrial optical network route capable of delivering up to 8Tb/s of data transmission capacity. The new route spans 3,998km and is deployed without any regeneration. 8Tb/s is enough capacity to stream over 1m HD videos at the same time.
Photonic ICs support Layer C & Layer T networks
To address the way in which scale and virtualisation drive have changed in network architectures, Infinera as introduced two Photonic ICs (PICs) for optical transport applications. The PICs include the sliceable enhanced ePIC-500 and the application-optimised oPIC-100.
Large area/low loss fibre is prime candidate for undersea cabling
Infinera and BICS have lab-trialled Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), 8 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and 16QAM transmission over OFS Terawave Large Area/Low Loss (LA/LL) fibre, optimised for terrestrial cables. The trial included FlexCoherent modulation features that will drive capacity and reach for the Intelligent Transport Network using the FlexCoherent Processor combined with Photonic IC (PIC) technology.
