HMS Networks has announced a new Intesis gateway protocol translator for communication between PROFINET PLCs on factory floors and Building Management Systems with BACnet IP/MSTP. With this, full data integration, monitoring, and control is enabled between factory floors and building facilities.

Industrial network connectivity for devices and machines is key to achieve smart connected factories. HMS Networks annual study of the industrial network market shows that Industrial Ethernet increases its market share to 64% of new installed nodes (59% last year), while fieldbuses drop to 30% (35). The leading networks EtherNet/IP and PROFINET share first place at 17% each. Wireless technologies stay at a six percent market share.

A disinfection robot has been introduced from the Danish company INFUSER, as the STERISAFE-Pro. It disinfects surfaces in any given room - for example patient rooms, operating theatres or hotel rooms - removing up to 99,9999% of pathogens.
