The IES5528 is a drop-in replacement of the OM5428. The OM5428 is now being superseded by the IES5528 and should not be used in new design-ins. The IES5528 is designed to provide negative triac gate pulses that avoid the insensitive triac trigger quadrants. By doing this it uses significantly less supply current and hence reduces dissipation in the supply resistor allowing the use of low wattage power resistors.

Hendon Semiconductors has announced that its IES5501 2-wire bus buffer IC is in full production. One of the new Bus Buffers in the IES550x family, the IES5501, is compatible for extending and expanding I2C(1),SMBus(2), PMBus(2), IPMB and other similar 2-wire bus systems.
