HARTING has introduced a number of innovative connector solutions and products targeted at the rail industry and focusing on the three key benefits of weight reduction, easy handling and increasing data throughput.

  The new Han Gigabit Module from HARTING is the first modular industrial connector designed to meet the rail industry’s growing need for high-speed communication based on the Cat.7A cabling standard on-board rail vehicles. 

HARTING Technology Group and specialist distributor Heilind Electronics have agreed a global partnership. The agreement was sealed at electronica 2018 in Munich. It is an extension of an initial agreement between the two companies in North America.

The mating-face design for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) connector technology from HARTING has been selected by international standards committees as the standard for the next generation of industrial Ethernet connectors. HARTING is driving forward the development of the standardisation of the new Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology. 

The HARTING Han Configurator is a new interactive tool designed to speed the selection of heavy-duty industrial connectors by allowing engineers to quickly access all the necessary information and relevant data on the individual interface components prior to producing a design that can be viewed as a 3D model in real time.

In order to meet the increased demands on industrial interfaces in flexible production applications, HARTING has developed a new pneumatic connector module – the Han Pneumatic Module Metal.

HARTING has added a wealth of coding options to its Han Q 5/0 connector insert with crimp contacts.

Founded at this year’s InnoTrans rail fair, with HARTING as one of the founding members was the International Railway Quality Board (IRQB) which aims to ensure quality within the rail industry. The consortium consists of railway operators such as Deutsche Bahn and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), system integrators such as Siemens and Alstom, as well as component suppliers such as Knorr-Bremse and HARTING. 

The new miniaturised Ethernet interface, ix Industrial, from HARTING, aims to set a new standard for IP20 Ethernet connections. Ethernet is the dominant communication standard for industrial applications, and the popular RJ45 connector has become the standard interface for Ethernet connections.

The new M12 Magnetics from HARTING is an industrial connector which combines a robust transformer and an RJ45 Ethernet socket in an IP65/67 protected unit containing all the necessary components that would otherwise have take up extra space on the circuit board, all in the same size socket as before.

HARTING has added three new versions to its Easy Access series of housings for its D-Sub InduCom family of industrial Bus interface connectors. The new models, with 25, 15 and 9-poles respectively and three straight cable-entry points each, complement the existing 50-pole and 37-pole units, each having three straight cable-entry points. The straight cable inputs lead to easier and faster assembly, even under cramped space conditions.

Supporting the trend towards miniaturisation, HARTING’s new HCME current sensor series can be directly mounted on busbars. This contributes to shorter installation and an easy pre-assembling of power electronics. Despite the limited space requirements – the dimensions of the devices are 6cm in height and 14cm wide – the HCME current sensors measure high currents up to 5500A with highly reliable precision. 

The HanGigabit Module has been designed by HARTING for the industry's most demanding transmission category Cat. 7A, which is suitable for 10Gbit Ethernet. The module allows transmission at an operating frequency of up to 1000MHz. As a result, signal integrity has significantly improved, while immunity to interference has increased compared to the standard Cat. 6A.
