Connector solutions designed for easy handling in rail industry
HARTING has introduced a number of innovative connector solutions and products targeted at the rail industry and focusing on the three key benefits of weight reduction, easy handling and increasing data throughput.
Powerful interfaces for digitisation in rail vehicles
The new Han Gigabit Module from HARTING is the first modular industrial connector designed to meet the rail industry’s growing need for high-speed communication based on the Cat.7A cabling standard on-board rail vehicles.
electronica: HARTING and Heilind seal global pact
HARTING Technology Group and specialist distributor Heilind Electronics have agreed a global partnership. The agreement was sealed at electronica 2018 in Munich. It is an extension of an initial agreement between the two companies in North America.
Mating-face design is selected as international standard
The mating-face design for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) connector technology from HARTING has been selected by international standards committees as the standard for the next generation of industrial Ethernet connectors. HARTING is driving forward the development of the standardisation of the new Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology.
Interactive tool to speed the selection of heavy-duty industrial connectors
The HARTING Han Configurator is a new interactive tool designed to speed the selection of heavy-duty industrial connectors by allowing engineers to quickly access all the necessary information and relevant data on the individual interface components prior to producing a design that can be viewed as a 3D model in real time.
Han-Modular Pneumatic Module Metal: ideal for flexible production
In order to meet the increased demands on industrial interfaces in flexible production applications, HARTING has developed a new pneumatic connector module – the Han Pneumatic Module Metal.
Multiple coding options added to Han Q 5/0 connector insert
HARTING has added a wealth of coding options to its Han Q 5/0 connector insert with crimp contacts.
HARTING joins the International Railway Quality Board
Founded at this year’s InnoTrans rail fair, with HARTING as one of the founding members was the International Railway Quality Board (IRQB) which aims to ensure quality within the rail industry. The consortium consists of railway operators such as Deutsche Bahn and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), system integrators such as Siemens and Alstom, as well as component suppliers such as Knorr-Bremse and HARTING.
Miniaturised Ethernet interface aims to set the standard
The new miniaturised Ethernet interface, ix Industrial, from HARTING, aims to set a new standard for IP20 Ethernet connections. Ethernet is the dominant communication standard for industrial applications, and the popular RJ45 connector has become the standard interface for Ethernet connections.
The robust transformer in a connector
The new M12 Magnetics from HARTING is an industrial connector which combines a robust transformer and an RJ45 Ethernet socket in an IP65/67 protected unit containing all the necessary components that would otherwise have take up extra space on the circuit board, all in the same size socket as before.
Family businesses enter into a large-scale partnership
The HARTING Technology Group in Espelkamp and BERNSTEIN in Porta Westfalica share similarities: both family businesses are world market leaders in their industry (industrial connectors and industrial safety technology), are run by their families’ third-generation and have been located in the Minden- Lübbecke district for more than seven decades. Now, the two SMEs have entered into a larger-scale partnership for the first time.
MICA industrial computers come with wireless and energy versions
HARTING has expanded its MICA industrial computer family with the addition of dedicated wireless and energy versions as well as a range of kits which can be equipped and assembled by the customer with their own function boards. The models have been developed from practical real-world applications and suggestions from the MICA customer group. The MICA 2 features a dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC (Embedded Multi-Media Car...
Housings for industrial Bus interface connectors
HARTING has added three new versions to its Easy Access series of housings for its D-Sub InduCom family of industrial Bus interface connectors. The new models, with 25, 15 and 9-poles respectively and three straight cable-entry points each, complement the existing 50-pole and 37-pole units, each having three straight cable-entry points. The straight cable inputs lead to easier and faster assembly, even under cramped space conditions.
Innovative connectors for rail
HARTING has supplied appropriate interfaces for a multitude of applications in the railway sector. The company offers designs for the connection of drives as well as for cross-carriage power, signal and data transmission – e.g. to power and supply passenger information and train monitoring systems. Han connectors, which were actually developed for industrial machinery and plant construction, have turned out to be 'tailor-made' for...
High temperature connectors can stand the heat
Manufacturers are now investigating how they can best apply Industry 4.0 digitalisation processes to existing production plant environments in order to improve productivity levels and reduce costs. A direct consequence of this approach includes implementing a more modular approach to production platforms. By Howard Forryan, Harting
Quick assembly connector in limited space
With the angled geometry, the new screw-in variants of the Han 3 A connectors are engineered to be space-saving and flat, for use on machines, control cabinets or terminal boxes. The external thread on the connector with lock nut supports quick and uncomplicated assembly. The angled connector element can be swivelled in all directions and even be rotated through 360°.
Screw-in connectors feature lock nuts for a quick assembly
Thanks to angled geometry, the new screw-in variants of the Han 3A connectors are engineered to be space-saving and flat, for use on machines, control cabinets or terminal boxes.
Easy to install HCME series comes in a compact design
Supporting the trend towards miniaturisation, HARTING’s new HCME current sensor series can be directly mounted on busbars. This contributes to shorter installation and an easy pre-assembling of power electronics. Despite the limited space requirements – the dimensions of the devices are 6cm in height and 14cm wide – the HCME current sensors measure high currents up to 5500A with highly reliable precision.
Improving the security of data transmission
The HanGigabit Module has been designed by HARTING for the industry's most demanding transmission category Cat. 7A, which is suitable for 10Gbit Ethernet. The module allows transmission at an operating frequency of up to 1000MHz. As a result, signal integrity has significantly improved, while immunity to interference has increased compared to the standard Cat. 6A.
