Provider of video compression IP cores, Hardent, has announced the launch of a new DisplayPort 1.4 IP subsystem solution developed in collaboration with Xilinx. The VESA-compliant IP subsystem combines Xilinx DisplayPort 1.4 IP and Hardent VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC) and Forward Error Corrector (FEC) IP to meet the requirements of a broad range of DisplayPort pro A/V applications transporting video up to 8K.

Hardent has announced the availability of IP solutions to support VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC) v1.2 in the second quarter of 2016. These IP products will help Digital Television (DTV) manufacturers create High Dynamic Range (HDR)-compatible 8K displays while meeting critical time-to-market constraints.

Hardent and Silicon Works have announced that Silicon Works has adopted the Hardent VESA DSC (Display Stream Compression) decoder IP. The VESA DSC IP enables the company to deliver compelling Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) displays while meeting critical time-to-market constraints.

The world's first video compression training, focusing on the VESA DSC standard, is being offered by Hardent. The training will help engineers and designers understand the latest video compression technology and the practical implications of designing a product compatible with the VESA DSC v1.1 video compression standard.
