Custom PCB overmoulding available from GTK
As part of the company's manufacturing solutions service, GTK offers custom PCB overmoulding in a two stage process: the first stage forms the general product shape and the second stage creates the look and feel of the finished product.
A cost-effective alternative to TFT displays
Providing a high level of design flexibility and user-friendly programming, the Graphic PMVA technology from GTK and is a cost-effective alternative to TFTs. Since the display can adapt dynamically to show what is required, customers can achieve a greater level of customisation and are not restrained to one single layout by use of graphic technology over segment and icons.
GTK announces Management Team Buyout
GTK announce the management team buyout of the business with support from YFM Equity Partners. The MBO team has worked together at GTK for two and a half years and comprises John Morath, Managing Director, who has been with the company for 20 years; Steve Robinson, Operations Director; Julie Arrowsmith, Sales Director, and Fred Edwards, Finance Director.
GTK expands UK production engineering team
GTK announced the appointment of Matt Eden as senior production engineer. Matt has extensive production engineering experience in UK manufacturing companies, in a variety of sectors including airfield lighting, airfield visual aids, low pressure overmoulding and cable assemblies. Matt recently joined GTK from Hunter Cable Assembly.
GTK announces Zero Insertion Force connectors
GTK UK announced the launch of its new extensive range of ZIF connectors for FFC and FPC cable on 0.5mm or 1.0mm pitch. This connector range is ideal for use when connecting displays to PCBs and can also be used as an alternative to traditional ribbon cable connectors for connection between boards where PCB space is at a premium.
Passive Matrix Vertical Alignment displays from GTK
GTK have today announced the introduction of a new series of Passive Matrix Vertical Alignment displays which provide the same look and performance as TFT displays, but with much lower costs and quicker time to market as a result of their simpler interface and programming. The PMVA is a custom segment and icon technology with a negative transmissive display and typically comes with a white LED backlight, with other colours available on request. ...
USB 2.0 still dominates, but SuperSpeed USB sees increased demand
Since its release in 1996, the Universal Serial Bus connector has become the de facto standard connector for many product applications, from PCs and peripherals to consumer electronics and mobile platforms. Often referred to as SuperSpeed USB, USB 3.0 technology offers an increase in data speeds of ten-times compared to the previous USB 2.0 specification.
Industrial Strength Displays
The new industrial range of TFT modules from GTK offers both high performance and versatility for engineers looking to design in new displays. This range is also offered with an extended product availability of 3-5 years.
Multipurpose DisplayPort Assemblies
DisplayPort Cable assemblies from GTK offer double the bandwidth of HDMI technology. Primarily designed as a digital interface between a video source and display devices, DisplayPort technology can also be deployed to transmit audio and data signals.
GTK releases new Optoelectronics Design Guide
GTK announced the launch of its new Optoelectronics Design Guide. This 8 page brochure has been created to help simplify the selection process for display products. It includes an overview of the most common optoelectronic technologies, an at-a-glance features table enabling comparison of the different technologies and guidance on the elements OEMs need to consider when selecting a display for use in new product designs.
Micro Coax Cable Assemblies from GTK
The micro miniature coax a href=http://www.electronicspecifier.com/Cables-and-Wires>cable assembly range from GTK can be used in a diverse range of applications including: WLAN radios and access points, handheld computers, PDA’s, test equipment, wireless security, metering and GPS tracking products.
John Morath appointed as Managing Director at GTK

Latest connectors from GTK are designed for high current/high density applications
The 3.0mm pitch MicroPower connectors from GTK are designed for high current/high density applications that require the flexibility of wire-to-wire and wire-to-board configurations. The MicroPower range is capable of handling currents of up to 5A. This combined with a 10mΩ contact resistance makes it a multipurpose connector solution for both power and signal applications.

Steve Robinson joins GTK as Operations Director
GTK has appointed Steve Robinson as Operations Director. Steve brings over 20 years’ experience in the electronics industry, having worked for a number of leading manufacturing organisations. Steve joins GTK from Access IS where he spent 5 years as its director responsible for strategic projects, including the formation of their US subsidiary.
Monochrome to Colour made much easier
The new combination of TFT with on-board ASIC controller from GTK offers OEM’s a number of advantages over the traditional TFT product. It retains all the functionality of traditional TFT’s but the additional controller makes programming and interfacing much simpler and the transition from mono graphic to colour displays is easier.
SIM Card Connectors for “Smarter” Applications
Whilst SIM cards are synonymous with mobile phones, they are ideal for other applications, allowing real-time communication. The six circuit SIM card connector from GTK has inbuilt card detection and a “push push” mechanism that facilitates positive insertion and removal of the card.
