Funding received for implant to treat brain disorders
Graphene Flagship spin-off, INBRAIN Neuroelectronics has just received a €1m investment from Sabadell Asabys, Alta Life Sciences, ICF and Finaves. This spin-off was born from Graphene Flagship partners the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) and ICREA to speed up the development of novel graphene-based implants to optimise the treatment of brain disorders, such as Parkinson's and epilepsy.
Going green with graphene
There is huge demand to find greener renewable alternatives to our traditional, finite energy sources. Now, graphene is unlocking new possibilities within the energy sector, creating a more efficient and sustainable future.
Ready to wear: wireless and battery free wearables
WearGRAPH, a two-year long project part of the EU’s Graphene Flagship initiative, has developed a graphene-based, battery free wearable device that is also a wireless and flexible device for power electronics. This new design overcomes problems associated with more conventional modes of power supply in wearable electronics, including the inconvenience of recharging batteries and safety concerns.
Research initiatives centre stage at Mobile World Congress
From February 24th to 27th at Mobile World Congress 2020, Barcelona, Deep Tech EU will showcase large-scale research initiatives of the European Commission. The Deep Tech EU space, supported by GSMA and the EU, will highlight the latest technologies developed by the Graphene Flagship, the Human Brain Project, the Quantum Flagship, and host the official presentation to the public of the new Battery 2030+ initiative.
Graphene, quantum and the brain: put it together and what do you get?
From 24th to 27th February at Mobile World Congress 2020, Barcelona, Deep Tech EU will feature a 300sqm+ pavilion showcasing large-scale research initiatives of the European Commission. The Deep Tech EU space, supported by GSMA and the EU, will highlight the latest technologies developed by the Graphene Flagship, the Human Brain Project, the Quantum Flagship, and host the official presentation to the public of the new&nbs...
Graphene Flagship projects aim to shape EU’s environmental future
The Graphene Flagship has announced the launch of eleven new “Spearhead Projects”, each developed to take graphene-enabled prototypes to commercial applications. The success of the first Spearhead Projects, launched in 2018 - which included the world’s first graphene-enabled solar farm - inspired the Graphene Flagship to keep investing in these initiatives, aiming to take graphene-enabled products from the lab to end-users.
Graphene project completes zero-gravity experiments
On May 2019, the Graphene Flagship embarked on a campaign of zero-gravity parabolic flights to test novel thermal management graphene devices for space applications. The unique properties of graphene can significantly improve their performance.
Graphene goes to space
Graphene Flagship partners, Université Libre de Bruxelles, University of Pisa and the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC), launched a rocket into space from Kiruna, Sweden on June 24th.
Turn your mobile phone into a life saving device
The Graphene Pavilion, organised by the Graphene Flagship and supported by the European Commission and GSMA, is returning to Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 with over 20 graphene-based prototypes, four of which are developed by the Graphene Flagship partner ICFO, based in Barcelona. These technologies aim to turn mobile phones into life saving devices.
