XNO delivers a Li-ion cell with low carbon footprint
In a recent study conducted by the Ghent University, Echion Technologies anode material (XNO) was shown to be more environmentally friendly than Lithium Titanate (LTO) anode materials by a factor of 2.
Fibre optic sensing spin-off launched
Ghent University (UGent) and imec have announced the incorporation of Sentea, a spin-off from their world leading Photonics Research Group. An initial €1.6m in funding was raised from Fidimec, Finindus, PMV and QBIC II and the founders. Sentea will develop and market advanced silicon photonics based fibre optic sensing solutions.

A team of researchers at Ghent University has overcome Jesus in the level of awesomeness by having designed and created a solar-powered device that is capable of separating out water and fertiliser from human urine, which will be used to grow crops used for making beer.
