Elster has announced that its data concentrator, the Beacon 3100 is the first European G3-PLC data concentrator certified to Cenelec A standard. The Beacon is Elster’s hybrid data collection platform that implements a suite of high-end communication technologies for field deployed Smart Grid applications.

A certification programme for the G3-PLC, which will be available for both present and future members of the G3-PLC Alliance, is being launched. The certification programme will cover conformance, performance and interoperability testing. Products will be awarded with the certificate if they conform to the G3-PLC specifications, fulfil defined performance requirements and are interoperable with other G3-PLC certified devices.

Two years after formation, G3-PLC Alliance is excited to present the key results of the year. The number of G3-PLC Alliance's members increased strongly, with new representatives from Asia. 44 member companies have joined the G3-PLC Alliance since its launch two years ago. This is a direct result of growing interest from leaders in the smart grid industry and a remarkable increase of G3-PLC field tests and projects.
