Frontier Silicon has launched what is says is the world’s smallest and lowest-cost DAB digital radio module available today. The small size and high level of integration in the new Capri FS3010 module makes it ideal for low-power product applications such as tiny pocket DAB players and personal media MP3 handhelds, as well as PDAs and other portable entertainment devices.

DAB module combines low-cost and long battery life

Frontier Silicon has announced Venice 5, a low cost DAB module which offers one week’s worth of battery life, when typically DAB modules have lasted only one day. Measuring just 52mm x 40mm and based on its recently launched Kino 2 baseband processor, Venice 5 is designed for next generation DAB home audio products such as kitchen and clock radios, CD audio systems and hi-fi tuner systems.

Chip enables next generation of DAB enabled digital audio products

Frontier Silicon has launched a new advanced and highly integrated system-on-chip IC which will enable the next generation of DAB digital radio-based products. The Chorus 2 FS1020 chip is a new programmable DAB baseband receiver providing significant space, cost and power savings on a typical radio or mobile handheld devices. The chip is now in mass production and products using the chip will appear in the market early 2007.
