It has been announced that ThreadX RTOS from Express Logic now supports ARMv8 64-bit processors, including the Cortex-A53, Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A72 processors. Although 32-bit devices currently dominate the embedded space - with the ARM 32-bit Cortex processors commanding the lion’s share of the market - there is a growing demand for 64-bit processors like the ARMv8.

Express Logic has announced that it plans to join the ARM mbed ecosystem for IoT product development. ARM mbed OS is an operating environment for IoT devices, is especially well-suited to run in energy-constrained applications, and includes the connectivity, security and device management functionalities required in every IoT device.

Express Logic has introduced ViewX, a real-time performance monitoring tool for IoT systems where optimisation of highly networked activity is critical for the success of the system. ViewX can be used to optimise IoT systems using Express Logic ThreadX RTOS and NetX TCP/IP protocol stack on most 32-bit architectures with dynamic data capture easily defined by the user.

A suite of example projects and demos designed to give developers a quick start with X-Ware products using the Renesas RZ/A1 Starter Kit Board, has been introduced by Express Logic. The 13 example projects cover each Express Logic product individually and include multifunction examples that illustrate how to use several products together.

A comprehensive middleware solution, called X-Ware, has been released by Express Logic with the aim of providing a solid foundation for IoT development. X-Ware consists of the company's ThreadX RTOS and FileX, NetX, NetX Duo, USBX, GUIX, GUIX Studio, and TraceX middleware offerings. The company claim that X-Ware provides all that's needed for embedded systems to meet the functional and usability requirements of IoT devices.

The GUIX Studio, due to be demonstrated by Express Logic at  EE Live 2014, simplifies GUI development for medical devices, consumer electronics, and industrial control equipment. GUIX Studio is a PC-based, WYSIWYG GUI design tool featuring automatic code generation for embedded systems.
