PowerMods enable dynamic control across extreme voltages
A family of extended trim range powerMods have been introduced by Excelsys. The XgM XgN, XgP and XgQ, which complement the company’s UltiMod and Xgen platforms, are available with nominal output voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48V, respectively, and can be dynamically trimmed down to 1V. This feature offers unparallelled flexibility to system designers who need dynamic control of output voltages over extreme voltage ranges.
Digital Control versus Management
Digital power control and management have some distinct and clear advantages, but what can the end-user expect when using a power supply with these features? By Shane Callanan, Director of Applications Engineering Manager, Excelsys Technologies
500W power supply features a typical efficiency of 92%
A 500W convection cooled AC/DC power supply, which features a typical efficiency of 92%, has been released by Excelsys Technologies. Operating from 90-264VAC, the XS500 delivers 500W output power without the need for forced air cooling. The device is, therefore, suitable for use in a wide range of acoustic and vibration sensitive applications as well as hi-rel applications where fans are not permitted.
Power supplies meet conducted emission standards
Under various loads, the Xsolo and XF power supply ranges from Excelsys Technologies now meet MIL-STD 461F, CE101 and CE102 conducted emission standards. To meet these standards, the company have combined the power supply ranges with the LCR F19374 single stage power line filter.
See Excelsys at electronica 2014
At electronica 2014, 11th to 14th November in Munich, Excelsys Technologies will be exhibiting in Hall B2, Booth 219. The company will present the high efficiency XSolo family of 1U high, ultra-compact single output power supplies, as well as the UltiMod range of power supplies.
Minimising EMI in power supply designs
Designing to minimise EMI is less difficult when the problem is addressed correctly, following standard practices and using proven techniques, even in power supply design. By Shane Callanan, Director of Applications Engineering, Excelsys Technologies.
1kW power supply suits harsh environment electronics
Expanding the company's XF series high reliability, ruggedised COTS modular power supplies, Excelsys Technologies has announced the 1000W XFN powerPac model. The power supplies are designed for application such as harsh environment electronics, including industrial and MIL/COT’s, test and measurement, fixed, mobile and naval radar and communications.
Power supplies claimed to offer unrivalled price/performance
The first in its class to carry a five year warranty, the ultra-competitively priced UltiMod power supply range has been introduced by Excelsys Technologies. Designed to offer unrivalled price/performance and simplify selection and procurement, the UltiMod series provides up to 12 outputs and 1200W in a compact 1U format.
Compact PSUs for medical and industrial applications
Compact single output power supplies, Excelsys Technologies has claimed that the high efficiency 1U XSolo family provides a market leading convection cooled 504W in an open-frame U-channel form-factor and up to 1008W in an enclosed fan cooled chassis. Nominal output voltages are 24 and 48V with wide adjustment ranges and user defined set-points.
Modular power supplies are SEMI F47 compliant
The UltiMod and Xgen family power supplies from Excelsys Technologies have achieved SEMI F47 compliance. An essential standard requirement for Semiconductor Processing Voltage Sag Immunity, the SEMI F47-0706 standard defines minimum voltage sag immunity requirements for equipment to be used in the semiconductor industry.

Shrinking a Power Supply and the Challenge to Maintain High Reliability White Paper
In the last few years, as the technology of power supplies has changed we have seen tremendous improvements in the power density of solutions being offered by many leading companies. This is in direct response to customer demands of smaller solutions, lower cost and increased reliability. However, as you reduce the size of your power supply you need to ensure that component temperatures are kept low, or run the risk of reduced reliability.
Excelsys Xgen Configurable Power Supplies meet latest, FDA Required IEC60601-1 3rd Edition Medical Standards
Excelsys Technologies has successfully had its Xgen range of configurable power supplies approved to IEC 60601-1:2005 3rd Edition. This is in addition to the existing approval to the 2nd Edition and ensures full medical approval is maintained during the transition period from 2nd to 3rd editions.
Excelsys Xgen Medical Configurable Power Supply Approved For Patient Contact Equipment
Excelsys Technologies' Xgen Medical Range of power supplies has been enhanced to include 1 x Means of Patient Protection approval from input to earth (ground) for patient connected equipment. Furthermore the improved products now allow customers to isolation test self-configured power supplies from input to output to 6kV DC.
