EMKA (UK) Ltd Articles
Gasket profiles design especially for enclosures and vehicles
Carrying an extensive stock of standard gasket profiles for enclosures, cabinets, vehicles, HVAC and similar, specialist hardware company EMKA have extruded sections which provide a simple and effective means of sealing to common IP ratings such as IP44, IP55, IP65, IP66.
Extensive portfolio offers over 30 designs
Manufacturer, EMKA has accumulated an extensive portfolio of modular design swinghandles, lifthandles and escutcheons for enclosures, cabinets, access panels and general industrial use to make life easier for specialist panel builders.
Save time and money with clip fix enclosure locking program
The new 1500 clip fix quarter-turn locking program from EMKA is specifically designed for time saving in pressured assembly areas. This is so it can ensure high levels of enclosure sealing and presentation with minimum effort.
Five considerations for securing your sensitive data
Managing your own data centre, colocation facility or technical data repository it can be difficult especially in terms of security, and how important security is. It is essential to safeguard sensitive information from physical theft, hacking, data breaches and human error. Even though there has already been a lot written about this, in this article it will help strengthen security strategies even further going forward.
21st century cabinet and enclosure hardware developments
A lot has happened since the Millennium, and feedback over the years from developing products to keep pace with industrial needs has driven the development of ubiquitous items like quarter-turn locks and latches which form a core range with companies such as EMKA (UK). Andy Bilingham, Managing Director at EMKA here explains more about the cabinet and enclosure hardware developments in the 21st century.
Are you really who you say you are?
The world is constantly evolving, and it is pretty complicated already, however as technology evolves, challenges naturally ensue to harness and properly use the technology. These challenges become much more serious and difficult when the rate of technological change increases. As customers know, significant time is often necessary to understand, implement, experience, and adjust to the new technology if it is to be employed efficiently and ...
Taking security to the server rack
Access security experts at EMKA point out that current data centre security practices rely on three things to ensure the protection of data. First, keeping a thief out of the building; second, monitoring the system to detect the removal of a hard drive; finally, encrypting the data on that hard drive so that if the first two fail, the hardware is still useless to the thief. Despite these efforts, data theft still occurs with some frequency, which...
Enclosure hardware receives new colour printing
Life has just been made a little bit easier by the ‘Everything but the Enclosure’ people at EMKA for specialist enclosure and cabinet builders, as they can now offer standard two colour pad printing onto swing handles, drawing pockets, air conditioning handles, drawer handles, L handles, T handles and even hinges as required.
Cabinet hardware for multi-compartment control panels
Specialist manufacturing job, the production of multi-compartment control panels requires simple standardised door locks, hinges and a sealing strip, fortunately, EMKA UK have the exact such package of easy to install modular hardware.
Whitepaper explores data security & vehicle technologies
Andy Billingham, MD, EMKA, has written a whitepaper which discusses how a range of advanced technologies have come together under the EMKA umbrella to meet the needs of applications such as data security and vehicle manufacturers – which nonetheless share many common areas of background expertise.
Standalone security for data centre server racks
Base level standalone electronic cabinet security is offered by EMKA with their 1150 electromechanical swinghandle. This provides digital PIN pass code protection for a main lock, plus one other, e.g. a rear door or possibly a neighbouring rack. In a day-to-day data centre or co-location environment the digital keypad can operate two doors together or separately with mechanical cylinder key locks retained for use in case of power failure.
EMKA BioLock system on show at Data Centre World
At Data Centre World, 11th to 12th March in London, EMKA will be exhibiting a range of data security products to physically protect data from internal threats on Stand H50. The EMKA BioLock system will be on show, which provides unique fingerprint technology stored and processed in the handle on the cabinet with an 'Indisputable Audit Trail' to protect valuable data.
Key & combination lock provides datacentre security
EMKA has declared that it recognises the fact that even small datacentres, comprised of just a few server cabinets, handling low sensitivity information, still require an appropriate locking system. The 1155 programme combination swinghandle is one such solution for data/co-location centres, and is also suitable for hardware protection such as bike lockers at universities.
Swinghandle provides data centres with simple access control
The standard key operated 1150 swinghandle program, developed by EMKA, provides simple access control in corporate data and co-location centres. Here, any relevant standalone or suite of cabinets may be fitted with a variety of key options.
EMKA joins Data Centre Alliance to highlight identity
EMKA has announced that it has recently joined the Data Centre Alliance, upgrading its access to industry partners in the data centre industry. EMKA's range of locking systems, hinges and sealing technologies used in cabinets and control cabinets comprises 15,000 products manufactured at nine production sites across Europe, USA and China.
Protect cabinets from unauthorised access
Providing multiple levels of security for stand-alone data cabinets, the AGENT E 3000 programme has been introduced by EMKA. Alongside single cabinet locking and access logging, the programme is suitable for a number of individual cabinets administered separately in a data centre.
RFID transponder improves cabinet security
Improving security, EMKA has added central network wireless control and RFID transponder swipe card technologies to its programme 3000 AGENT E swinghandle. Designed for data cabinet protection, the swinghandle can be used wirelessly, on its own, or networked in groups controlled via an RJ45 linked ProxLock module supplemented by personal RFID transponder card identification.
Biometric locking system offers greater protection
Joining digital and RFID card security, Biometric (fingerprint) technology has been added to EMKA’s Electronic Locking and Monitoring (ELM) or cabinet access and environmental control system. This technology is integrated into their modular swinghandle and cabinet locking components.
The What, Why And How Of Rubber Specifictions For Sealing Profiles – A Whitepaper By Andy Billingham, M.D., EMKA UK
Choosing a sealing profile does not have to involve choosing the material as there are many standard sections in standard rubbers found to be suitable for general purposes such as control cabinet door sealing, where specification may be made primarily on the correct mechanical fit.
EMKA Launch New 1325 Cabinet Locking System To IP65 At Hannover
EMKA are very proud of their innovative new IP65 swinghandle system for cabinets and enclosures – paired with the recently launched 1121 precision rod control module – the 1325 swinghandle takes modular flexibility to a new level in this market.
