Ruggedized Bluetooth beacon with long battery life
EM Microelectronic, the semiconductor company of the Swatch Group, announces the EMBE01 enterprise grade Bluetooth v4.1 proximity beacon with extended battery life and a weatherproof enclosure for a variety of deployments in all conditions. The EMBE01 is part of the EM Microelectronic family of Bluetooth beacons, which includes the popular EMBC0x coin cell beacons.
Bluetooth Smart beacons are Eddystone certified
EM Microelectronic has revealed that the industry’s lowest power Bluetooth Smart beacons, its EMBC01 and EMBC02, have achieved Eddystone certification. Eddystone is the open beacon format from Google. Unlike many other commercially available beacons, EM Beacons can broadcast multiple interleaved beacon formats (such as iBeacon, Eddystone or AltBeacon) and can also be configured over the air.
Bluetooth Smart controller supports Bluetooth 4.1
Supporting Bluetooth 4.1, the EM9301 power Bluetooth Smart controller has been introduced by EM Microelectronic. The device is suitable for implementing Bluetooth Smart with any MCU, ASIC or electronic system and consumes only 9µA in BLE idle state, and less than 0.5µA in OFF mode.
RFID circuit is 'world's first' to offer NFC & EPC
EM Microelectronic has announced the world’s first RFID circuit featuring a UHF EPC Gen2V2 RF and an NFC Type 2interface. The EM4423 is suited for manufacturers and brands which support EPC functionality for retail logistics and inventory control, but who also want to communicate directly with the consumer for marketing, product authenticity, and product registration on a per-item level.
Low power beacon supports multiple proximity standards
EM Microelectronic has launched its 2nd gen multi-protocol proximity beacon, EMBC02. Operating from a single coin cell, the beacon supports multiple proximity standards and is optimised for smart IoT and safety applications in indoor and outdoor environments. EM says that the combination of sensors with its low-cost, low-power, certified beacon technology will be an enabler of many real-world IoT applications.
500 BLE proximity beacons installed at CES for visitor app
To provide attendees of the 2015 CES with indoor navigation and enhanced mobile information services, EM Microelectronic has installed approximately 500 EMBC01 BLE proximity beacons at the event venue. This setup, which is the largest-ever deployment of multi-protocol beacons, will support the official CES App on both iOS and Android smartphones.

Bluetooth SmartController powered by harvested energy
EM Microelectronic introduce the EM9301 ultra-low power Bluetooth SmartController. Powered only by harvested energy or low voltage eco-friendly zinc-air batteries, the EM9301 can send advertising broadcasts to passing smartphones. An embedded microcontroller and a perfectly matched PCB loop antenna directly connected to the EM9301’s antenna pins enabled the total cost to be minimised.
Multipurpose BAP RFID Chip With Integrated Temperature Sensor
EM Microelectronic have introduced a versatile and multipurpose, battery-assisted passive RFID chip with a calibrated temperature sensor. The EM4325V11 enables accurate remote temperature monitoring using industry standard EPC Gen2 wireless protocol. Temperature data logging can easily be implemented with a companion microcontroller connected to the EM4325V11 via a standard SPI interface.
