Dyson's announcement that it will be axeing 1,000 jobs – making up nearly one third of its workforce – has been met with concern and frustration.

Jake Dyson, son of Sir James, has recently developed a range of LED desk lamps that will stay bright for 37 years. CSYS task lights, now part of Dyson's lighting range, use heat pipe technology to direct heat away from the LEDs. Operating at 55°C, the heat is dissipated through an aluminium heat sink, which forms the light's horizontal arm.
