Belden used this year's Hannover Messe to show that switches supporting Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) are becoming a reality. Prototype TSN-enabled Hirschmann RSPE35 switches that support this open, real-time Ethernet technology were shown in demonstrators at various booths throughout the show. A software update for the modularly-managed Hirschmann switch types RSPE35 and RSPE37 is to be released by Belden. The update, which will be available in the second half of this year, will enable Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) features. As a visible sign, the devices will have a 'TSN ready' logo on the front panel. In addition, older switches of both RSPE types can also be upgraded for the new real time technology.

  Belden has expanded its industrial wireless portfolio with the addition of the BAT867-R Wireless Access Point - a compact and rugged device designed to help industrial applications maximise efficiency and performance.

An industrial cellular router has been introduced by Belden. The OWL LTE M12 is designed to address the high speed wireless connectivity needs of railway and public transportation applications.

A compactly designed, yet ruggedised, switch for large-scale industrial networks has been developed by Belden. The MSP40 Full Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 switch features 28 Gigabit speed ports – more than other modular compact switches on the market, and these interchangeable ports enable data speeds up to 2.5 Gigabits.

An economical solution for power transmission in harsh environments has been developed by Belden - Lumberg Automation M12 Power Connectors. PROFINET International (PI) has decided that the L-coded variant, which is internationally standardised through the standard 61076-2-111, will be the future single standard for 24-volt PROFINET devices with round connectors.

Joining the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) Testbed, Belden is aiming to improve multi-vendor interoperability and to display the value of the IEEE 802.1 Ethernet standards for time-sensitive networking in a manufacturing ecosystem.
