Two SoftSilicon FPGA platforms, which provide optical equipment manufacturers with standards-based OTN solutions beyond 100 Gigabit/s (B100G), has been announced by Altera. The platforms feature an FPGA in combination with a fully integrated IP solution that reduces design time, integration processes and test phases, allowing customers to focus more on value-add technology differentiation.

Based on the company's industry-leading FPGAs, as well as QAM modem IP cores from Escape Communications, Altera has announced high-performance, cost-effective and scalable microwave backhaul solutions. These address traditional microwave backhaul markets (6-42GHz) and emerging applications in the E-band (70/80GHz) and V-band (60GHz) all-outdoor radio (ODR) markets.

As a result of their strategic partnership, Altera and Wind River have jointly announced that they have developed and deployed tools and solutions for Altera’s SoC FPGA devices. Wind River’s operating systems and development tools now support Altera’s multi-core ARM processor-based SoC platforms.

At Embedded World 2014 in booth 450, Hall 4, Altera will showcase their portfolio of ARM Cortex A9 and A53 based SoC devices, as well as a number of FPGA and SoC-based demonstrations.

Designed to simplify the integration of Altera FPGAs and high-speed data converters, Altera have announced a range of JESD204B solutions for designers. The JESD204B solutions offered by Altera include IP cores, reference designs, development boards and interoperability reports for the industry’s latest data converters. The resources are available through Altera's online resource center.

Altera have revealed that the newest release of its SDK for OpenCL now supports IBM Power Systems servers as an OpenCL system host. Users can now develop OpenCL code targetting IBM Power Systems CPUs and accelerator boards with Altera FPGAs as a high-performance compute solution.
