The architectural and product details of Altera's Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs, which deliver breakthrough levels of performance, integration, density and security, have been revealed. The high-end programmable logic devices leverage Altera’s revolutionary HyperFlex FPGA fabric architecture built on the Intel 14nm Tri-Gate process to provide twice the core performance compared to previous-gen FPGAs.
28nm Cyclone V FPGAs offer secure voice communications
Altera has announced that its 28nm Cyclone V FPGAs have been chosen by Harris for its latest Falcon III wideband tactical radio. The radio, currently in production, has been designated by the U.S. NSA to be NSA Type-1 certified, enabling Harris to field the radio for secure voice and data communications.
Speed the development of IEC 61508-compliant designs
Altera has announced the availability of the latest version of its Industrial Functional Safety Data package (Ver. 3) for systems designers using its FPGAs. The safety pack provides TÜV Rheinland-certified toolflows, IP and devices including Cyclone V FPGAs, enabling faster time-to-market for industrial safety solutions to IEC 61508 up to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3).
Engine drives development time reductions
Altera has unveiled its Spectra-Q engine, a technology at the heart of the company’s Quartus II software, to accelerate design productivity and time-to-market for next-gen programmable devices. The Spectra-Q engine extends Altera’s Quartus II software leadership with added capabilities that deliver unprecedented compile time improvements, versatile and fast-tracked design entry, and drop-in IP integration.
Consortium to develop a global ecosystem for the IoT
Altera has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium, a collaborative industry organisation facilitating development of a global IoT ecosystem. Altera is working alongside the consortium on technical roadmaps to build the Industrial Internet, a network of intelligent devices and sensors between which data can be exchanged via different connectivity protocols to drive productivity across a range of end-market applications.
Altera to demonstrate how to future-proof UHD systems for 8K
At the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters convention (NAB), which takes place from 13th to 16th April at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Altera will demonstrate its Ultra HD (UHD) end-to-end solutions. Featured for the first time will be the company’s multichannel, real-time H.265 hardware codec delivering a high quality full HD experience by implementing the Altera H.265 IP on a single chip with unprecedented quality and efficiency...
UBM-free WLCSP technology targets MAX 10 FPGAs
An UBM-free WLCSP technology that provides enhanced quality, reliability and integration for Altera’s MAX 10 FPGA products has been developed by Altera and TSMC. This approach results in a thin package height of less than 0.5mm (including solder ball), which is suitable for applications where space is at a premium.
FPGA-based solutions provide intelligent vision
Based on Eutecus' MVE video and fusion analytics technology and Altera’s Cyclone V SoC and Enpirion PowerSoC devices, Altera and Eutecus announce the ReCo-Pro Multi-channel HD Video Analytics platform for intelligent lighting, traffic monitoring and building security.
Altera to demo 200 & 400G OTN solutions at OFC 2015
In booth #413 at OFC 2015, March 24th to 26th In Los Angeles, Altera is demonstrating two products for optical transport networks designed with Arria 10 FPGAs: the Altera SoftSilicon 400G Transponder/Muxponder (TPO516) and the Altera SoftSilicon single-chip 20-channel any-rate mapper (TPOC226) with segmentation and reassembly.
