A significant step towards the commercialisation of drone delivery has been taken today as the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality opens a route along its shores for a pilot scheme made possible by Airwayz, SkylinX and FlytechIL. As part of the pilot programme, Nespresso will deliver coffee capsules to a targeted group of customers along the route, paving the way for the future of efficient and sustainable last mile subscription delivery.

Airwayz has been awarded a contract by Ayalon Highways, an Israeli governmental company. In order to quickly investigate and respond to missile damage to civilian structures and infrastructure in the towns of Ashdod and Ashkelon, the Israeli civil defence, fire and police services will inspect drone footage to assess damage and prioritise remedial work, saving time, making best use of resources and restoring public safety quicker.

In a bid to realise the future of autonomous airborne delivery, Airwayz is taking part in a two-year pilot programme that will see drone delivery tested above and beyond any other scheme of its kind. In a world-first, drones will operate in mesh networks in Hadera, just north of Tel Aviv, to validate the safe and efficient integration of drone deliveries in urban environments.
