Telenet chooses Ciena for network upgrade

Ciena's enhancements for Telenet's optical network, which serves both consumers and businesses in metropolitan areas, comprise:

• The 6500 reconfigurable line system (RLS), a photonics solution with integrated tools for optimising fibre capacity and streamlining line system deployment.
• WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400G QSFP-DD coherent pluggable transceivers for high-performance, interoperable 400G connectivity throughout the network, improving power and space usage and operational efficiency.
• The Waveserver 5 interconnect platform, accommodating future coherent technology and client interfaces for 100GbE and 400GbE in a compact design.
• Manage, control, and plan (MCP) domain controller to automate the network lifecycle, complemented by Ciena’s PinPoint application for rapid isolation and resolution of fibre issues.
