Digital radio receivers tune in to multiple applications
Silicon Labs Si468x Digital Radio Receiver family includes ultra-low-power, multi-band digital radio receiver ICs that enable FM, HD Radio, DAB/DAB+ and other digital radio standards for audio applications. The ICs integrate most of the functionality needed to build a digital radio receiver system, including the RF tuner, baseband, and stereo audio DACs.
The receivers, which are now on sale at Mouser Electronics, leverage Silicon Labs' low‑IF digital receiver architecture and offer revolutionary advances in size, power consumption and performance. The Si468x family delivers a high-performance “digital‑radio‑on‑a‑chip” solution that reduces Bill of Materials (BOM) cost and power consumption without compromising RF performance.
The radio receivers include auto-calibrated digital tuning and FM seek algorithms based on various signal quality and radio band parameters. These chips also provide important audio processing features including noise blanking, configurable FM soft mute, FM de-emphasis and FM hi-cut filtering. Each device within the family is designed for low-power operation, consuming less than 60 mW in analogue FM mode, and less than 95 mW in HD Radio and DAB/DAB+ modes.
Silicon Labs’ Si468x receivers support a wide range of global and analog digital radio standards, including AM, SW, LW, FM, FM RDS, RBDS, DAB, DAB+, DMB, and DRM30. Offering one of the smallest footprints and lowest power consumption of any digital radio solution on the market, the Si468x family meets a variety of audio and RF wireless applications, including multimedia handsets, personal media players, personal navigation devices (GPS), tablet computing devices, MP3 accessories, radios, stereo boom boxes and entertainment systems.
Silicon Labs’ Si468x Digital Radio Receivers are available from Mouser Electronics in a 7mm x 7mm 48‑pin QFN package and are supported by an RF Evaluation Board (part # 634-SI468X-QFN-EVB) also available from Mouser Electronics.
