mimoOn to demonstrate its advanced low-cost LTE Test Mobile for Digital Dividend at Mobile World Congress 2010
mimoOn, a pioneer in LTE software implementations for programmable radio platforms, announced it would demonstrate its LTE Test Mobile mi!TestMOBILE for the new European Digital Dividend (DD) frequencies at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona. The demo can be seen on the mimoOn stand 2B17.
The mi!TestMOBILE(TM) is one of the world's smallest and lowest-cost Test Mobiles for the rapid deployment and optimization of LTE networks. It is a compact handheld solution that can be used by technicians in the field, and due to the fact that the underlying hardware is reconfigurable, it is flexible and upgradeable with changing market needs, new 3GPP releases, multiple frequencies, and service-provider requirements.
The mimoOn solution offers advantages for the different players in the mobile ecosystem. It affords infrastructure OEMs the ability to test their base-station equipment prior to deployment, and handset and semiconductor OEMs the ability to benchmark their reference designs prior to general availability. Most importantly, it enables operators to test actual network performance and evaluate broadband capabilities prior to switching on LTE.
According to Thomas Kaiser, CEO of mimoOn, The advantage that mimoOn's Test Mobile brings to service providers and OEMs is that they can test their networks and designs in the field before actually loading up the network and marketing the service to consumers. In addition, our design is not tied to any particular base-station or core network design, thus it offers operators an objective way to compare vendor capabilities and thus reduce market and financial risk.
