The new fanless box PC Kontron CB 752 with the energy-saving, cost-efficient Intel Atom processor 270 offers a wide range of interfaces, which can be configured to meet industrial requirements. Due to this, the Embedded Box PC is ideal for a broad spectrum of applications which require long-term availability, for example in medical technology, transportation, automation and P.O.S. and digital signage applications.
Kontron's Embedded Box PC, CB 752, which comes in a rugged aluminium chassis, excels thanks to its high performance-per-watt with exclusively passive cooling which makes it more robust than other designs available to date in the same performance class. The ready-to-run Embedded Box PC is ideal for rugged application areas, which require interfaces for industrial deployment like RS232, RS422/485, digital I/Os, an optional CAN interface and two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces besides the standard PC interfaces. Additional cabling work can be cut out due to the Wi-Fi option. Customer-specific extensions can be carried out via a Mini PCI Express slot.

On the front of the Kontron CB 752 (75mm x 250mm x 154mm) there are 2 x Gbit LAN, 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x RS232, VGA and optional DVI, CAN bus and 1x RS422/485. On the back panel, the Embedded Box PC provides 4 GPIO connections that can be configured as input and output, 2 additional USB 2.0 interfaces and HD audio. As an option, the Embedded Box PC offers Wi-Fi with two antennas at the back and non-volatile NVRAM.

The Embedded Box PC with Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor and 533 MHz FSB supports up to 2 GB DDR2 RAM. To accommodate data media there is a bay for a 2.5 SATA HDD or SDD plus a CF socket. The MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) has been specified at approximately 100,000 hours which corresponds to more than 11 years of non-stop (24/7) operation.

Following the introduction of the Kontron CB 751, Kontron's new CB 752 is the second edition of a standard product from Kontron's application-specific, configurable Concept Box series, which adheres to Kontron's form follows function principle meaning that the dimensions, system assembly and feature set of the Embedded Box PCs can be defined individually. For integration in future application areas, Kontron offers the Box PC with different mounting options for vertical and horizontal operation plus a rack-mount option.

The Embedded Box PC Kontron CB 752 is CE certified and has UL approval. It is now available in Europe and will be available in North America and APAC late this year. It runs Linux Embedded, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE 6.0.
