Interface Masters Introduces First Dual 10GBASE-T to 10GE Fiber Converter
Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader in networking solutions, announced Niagara 902, the first dual port 10GBASE-T to 10GBASE-R media converter based on Solarflare 10GBASE-T transceiver (PHY). The Niagara 902 is being offered in a tabletop form factor which can be rackmounted. The media converter comes with SFP+ multi mode or SFP+ single mode media while the 10GBASE-T solutions can be used and deployed over both new Category 6A as well as installed Category 6 UTP copper Ethernet cabling.
The At 4.5 watts, Solarflare's 65nm 10GBASE-T PHY is the lowest power PHY in the industry and supports distances of greater than 100 meters on UTP Category 6A cabling, 100 meters on STP Category 6, 55 meters on UTP Category 6 and 45 meters on UTP Category 5E cabling.
“Interface Masters is known for its innovation and creativity in introducing leading edge networking products. We are pleased to support them in the introduction of a 10GBASE-T media converter to the high speed networking market, said Ajay Rane, General Manager - PHY Solutions, Solarflare Communications. At 4.5 watts, Solarflare has the lowest-power PHYs in the market at the 65 nanometer silicon process technology node. We look forward to working closely with Interface Masters and supporting them in bringing additional products based on our portfolio of single, dual and future quad port 10GBASE-T PHYs.
“10GBASE-T is becoming the endorsed, mainstream interconnect standard of top-tier switching and server vendors, and as such, the need to convert from existing 10GBASE-R equipment to 10GBASE-T is becoming more prominent”, stated Ehud Yuhjtman, President of Interface Masters Technologies. “The Solarflare 10GBASE-T PHY is a proven technology which makes the media converter a solid solution to 10GBASE-T system developers, IT manager and network administrators.”
