Kontron previews new digital signage solution based on the 3rd generation Intel Core processors
Kontron today previewed its open pluggable specification (OPS) compliant solution based on the 3rd generation Intel Core processors at the 4th Annual Shanghai International Digital Signage & Touch Technology Show. Giving OEMs the cutting-edge features and capabilities needed for more intelligent digital signage systems, Kontron's OPS solution will deliver excellent performance per watt ratios, an increase in graphics and computing performance, upgraded manageability features and improved security, as well as an increase in uptime provided by remote management capabilities.
KontKontron's modular OPS-compliant solution significantly simplifies the integration of a full range of advanced features for complex digital signage systems, said Kevin Rhoads, Vice President, Embedded Products Business Unit, Kontron. It enables OEMs to quickly develop intelligent, media-rich digital signage. In addition, business profitability improvements can be achieved through remote management capabilities that enable easier upgrades and the scheduling of repairs.
Kontron's new OPS-compliant solution is further proof of the adoption and deployment of OPS in the digital signage market, said Raj Maini, Worldwide Marketing Director, Visual Retailing, Retail Solutions Division at Intel. Applications built using Kontron's solution with the latest processor series from Intel greatly improves integrated graphics capabilities to display high resolution content, thus meeting the needs of graphics-intensive digital signage applications.
Kontron's digital signage solution features a comprehensive range of externally accessible I/O including Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45, two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI connector and audio jack. It also supports OPS JAE interconnect I/O such as HDMI, DisplayPort and USB 2.0 and 3.0. Integrated Intel vPro technology provides enhanced functionality such as improved security with Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) and increased manageability through Intel Active Management Technology (AMT). It also features 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity, and offers up to 8GB of dual channel DDR3-1600 non-ECC system memory and 80GB mSATA HD integrated storage.
Kontron is scheduled to release the product in Q3 2012
