Digi Wirelessly Enables Control Solutions' Building Automation Controller
Digi International announced that Control Solutions is using its XBee-PRO ZB ZigBee modules and Digi Connect ME® Ethernet modules to develop a BACnet-to-ZigBee building automation controller. Compatible with any BACnet system, the Babel Buster BB2-7040 allows organizations to easily deploy wireless building automation equipment and sensors using ZigBee mesh networks. This reduces system installation costs, allows customers to place sensors in hard to reach locations, and makes it easier for organizations to move systems based on building occupancy and demand.
“B“Control Solutions is a leading provider of building automation equipment, and our technologies help their customers enjoy the benefits of a wireless BACnet system,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “Our XBee-PRO ZB and Digi Connect ME are extremely easy to use and help organizations speed time to market for wired and wireless network-enabled devices.”
The Babel Buster BB2-7040 supports both BACnet IP and BACnet MS/TP to ZigBee networks. To help enable the product, the XBee-PRO ZB module creates the ZigBee network and the Digi Connect ME provides Ethernet access, Web services and intelligence for advanced controls such as local and remote system monitoring and maintenance.
XBee-PRO ZB embedded RF modules provide wireless connectivity to end-point devices in ZigBee mesh networks. Utilizing the ZigBee PRO Feature Set, the modules are pre-certified and interoperable with other ZigBee certified devices. The Digi Connect ME is an ultra-compact embedded module that combines Ethernet networking, on-chip security and interface compatibility with other Digi Connect ME modules.
