Bluetooth 5 module boasts increased flash memory
The SaBLE-x-R2 Bluetooth 5 module from Laird Technologiesis being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The module builds on the original field-proven hardware of the SaBLE-x module to accelerate the development time for implementing cutting-edge Bluetooth low energy connectivity in Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and beacons for commercial, medical, and industrial applications.
The module is available with an external or PCB trace antenna, and it takes full advantage of the range, speed, throughput of the Bluetooth 5 specification and include increased flash memory for application usage and OTA capabilities.
Based on the Texas Instruments SimpleLink CC2640R2F wireless microcontroller, the self-contained module integrates an Arm Cortex-M3 application processor, Arm Cortex-M0 processor for the radio frequency (RF) core, Sensor Processor Engine, and high- and low-speed clocks.
Designed to remove complexity and accelerate development time, the module is pin-to-pin compatible with the original SaBLE-x hardware, which means upgrading to R2 does not require any PCB, footprint, or hardware changes in any existing SaBLE-x board layout.
The SaBLE-x-R2 module includes certification compliance with the FCC, Industry Canada, CE, Giteki, and C-Tick regulatory bodies, as well as qualification with Bluetooth SIG.
The module is supported by the SaBLE-x-R2 BLE development kit, which provides all of the necessary connectors, jumpers, indicators, and switches to test and debug all aspects of the SaBLE-x-R2 module.
