Automotive connectors offer 50 & 100Ω differential impedance

Expanding its connector portfolio for automotive applications, Yamaichi Electronics has introduced FAKRA and HSD series connectors with standard I/Os. The HF106P series FAKRA connectors are coaxial high-frequency connectors designed for the transmission of signals, such as shortwave, mobile telephony, GPS or telematics.

Available in A, C, D, H, I and K codings, the single-pin board connector features a differential impedance of 50Ω and a frequency of up to 6GHz.

Growth in the demand for higher data transmission rates has meant that, for some applications, the one-pin FAKRA connector is no longer sufficient. The HSD interface uses LVDS signal transmission for USB or IEEE1394, preventing crosstalk between signals and interference from external signals.

The HF107P and HF108P series HSD connectors feature 100Ω differential impedance, two locking stages, secure connector locking and contact protection on the pins. The metal housing is die-cast zinc, with gold-plated centre contacts with tinned TH solder contacts  Since the connectors are specially designed for the automotive industry, they have been developed and tested for environmental influences, vibrations, shock and long service life.

The HF107P is a four-pin HSD connector with an additional shield washer, ensuring improved EMC shielding. The HF108P provides two additional external pins for separate power supplies, each carrying 5A.
