Preparation and termination of Temp-Flex specialty micro-products to connectors or boards for an end-to-end solution is being offered by Molex. Temp-Flex specialty micro-ribbon cable, micro-coax, primary wires and coils meet the demands from medical device companies for smaller, more reliable high performance solutions. However, these demands have made product preparation and termination challenging, as some wires are finer than a human hair.

To address this challenge Molex are offering OEMs custom value-added service solutions. These service solutions include Laser strip, window ablation and cross-cut, slug retention or removal, twist, tin dip, fine wire soldering, form/bend conductors, cut-to-length, complete termination, custom packaging.

Mechanical and laser ablation techniques are applied to prepare invasive and implantable medical products for soldering, welding and termination, and are provided in a reel-to-reel or cut-to-length package. Specific product capabilities include the following:
1) Micro-ribbon cable – Termination, laser strip, window ablation, cross-cut and termination of wires to 48AWG.
2) Primary Wire – Insulation removal on primary wires to 48AWG.
3) Micro-coax constructions – Insulation removal on discrete, ribbon or bundled designs to 42AWG while maintaining the integrity of the braid.
4) Continuous coils – Mandrel included or removed.

Healthcare reforms are motivating Medtech companies to focus on their core competencies and outsource capabilities that may have been done internally. Molex, with its medical expertise from Temp-Flex, addresses the needs of the medical device market.
