Radiall announced that Amphenol is now a licensed second source for Radiall R2CT connection kits. As a second source, Amphenol will manufacture and market the connectors. R2CT connection kit provides a waterproof, sealed connection for fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA), remote radio head equipment, and similar outdoor applications where a protected interface is needed. The field-installable kit provides low-cost sealing at the transceiver-to-cable interface and ensures robust mechanical and environmental performance.
The kit is designed for optical systems using SFP transceivers and duplex LC-terminated fiber-optic cable, but can also be used with copper systems. The kit can be reused, allowing cables and transceivers to be changed in the field, including front-panel swapping of transceivers. The kits can also be assembled over existing cables.

“We welcome Amphenol as a second source for the R2CT product line,” says Marnix van der Mee, Business Development Manager for Multipin and Fiber Optic Products at Radiall. “The innovative system makes the installation and maintenance of FTTA applications faster and easier. With Amphenol as a certified second source, we can help extend the global acceptance of this new system.”

“We are pleased to be able to offer R2CT products,” says Terry Basehore, Director of Business Development at Amphenol Fiber Optic Products. “The convenience offered by this line for achieving cost reductions and higher reliability in telecommunications towers should make it an important innovation in the market.”
