Based on its comprehensive portfolio of high performance connectors, ERNI Electronics is constantly and consistently further developing its range of services. The offering includes state-of-the-art and highly efficient cable assembly, wide-ranging design services through to complete and tested systems in addition to comprehensive electronic manufacturing services (EMS) with assembly, soldering and repair/rework. In the area of system technology, ERNI Electronics also produces backplanes and subassemblies on the basis of its proven and reliable press-fit technology. The offering is rounded off by the ERNI X-PRESS online shop, which offers a 24-hour delivery service without minimum order quantities. The complete service portfolio is combined under the claim ERNI WoR&D.
With the acquisition of a company that specialises in assembly and solder technology, assembly capacities of 30,000 SMD components per hour are available. Thanks to state-of-the-art soldering machines, SMD, THR and THT components can be soldered reliably and quickly. ERNI Electronics also offers complete subsystems and racks along with all the necessary tests.

In the field of design services, the company develops for example customer-specific, miniaturised backplanes and systems, including standard backplanes for a diverse range of bus systems. Further design examples include flex and rigid-flex circuit boards as a cable solution for the MicroSpeed connector or subminiature Ethernet transformers in the form of M8 and M12 extensions. In future, the company will be further extending this sector with its own designs.

In line with customer requirements, ERNI Electronics has in particular extended its offering with regard to cable assembly as well as in the area of rework & repair.

State-of-the-art, highly automated cable assembly

With fully automatic and semi-automatic systems for ribbon cables and a stripper crimper for single wires, high-tech equipment is available for cable assembly. Round cables and single wire assembly in solder and crimping technology go to complete the product range. The services range from supplier management to cable production (IDC, crimp, solder, etc.) through to printing and testing. A high level of quality, as is required in the automotive industry for example, is assured by performing tests during production, such as micrographs for production approval, extraction force tests, visual inspections following every operation, adjustment gauges, checking of torques, etc.

Besides assembled SMC (two row, 1.27mm pitch) and MaxBridge connectors (single row, 2.54 mm), ERNI Electronics offers all MiniBridge cable connectors (single row, 1.27 mm) in all available numbers of contacts and fully assembled. To permit rapid delivery, cables are stocked in PVC, high temperature (TPE-ET) and in halogen-free versions along with the corresponding MiniBridge connector components. Assembled cable solutions will also be available for the new MicroCon family in a 0.8mm pitch.

Rework & Repair

The trend towards SMT continues. At the same time, boards are increasingly equipped with fine-pitch components with pitches of 1.0 mm and lower, not to mention sophisticated miniature connectors in SMT. Necessary rework/repair tasks require the reliable handling of the individual SMD components, i.e. the selective soldering and desoldering as well as the precise positioning. As part of its service offering, ERNI Electronics Solutions (ERNI ES) offers a comprehensive SMD rework service. An efficient rework station is deployed for the selective desoldering and soldering. Being equipped with a special vision system, the exact alignment of the SMD and fine-pitch components is guaranteed. This goes to ensure not only a high level of precision, but also a high level of user friendliness.
