Easy part identification with integrated QR-codes
Plastic energy chain specialist igus is now integrating QR-codes onto its e-chain systems to make original part identification easy. All you need to do is simply locate the code, scan it with a QR-reader app and it directs users to the online portal that provides all the information you could possibly need including be able to reorder the parts with just one click.
“For maintenance engineers who work with a lot of different energy chain systems or designers with a product sample on their desk, instant access to all the relevant information available on the individual component or the particular e-chain system is crucial,” explained Justin Leonard, director at igus. “By integrating a QR-code on the side parts and crossbars, igus simplifies this process by directing users to the e-chain system’s online portal.”
Using a common smartphone QR-reader app, the engineer scans the QR-code on the part to instantly display the corresponding e-chain online. Here, the ability to identify the part, check pricing and select to order for fast delivery is simple. General information about the e-chain, including CAD drawings, is also available, as well a step-by-step assembly instructions and videos.
QR-codes are currently being integrated on parts in the E4.1L system. Further e-chain systems will follow through the year.
