Magnometers, evaluation board form HMI platform
The MLX90393 Triaxis micropower magnetometers and EVB90393 evaluation board from Melexis are now in stock at Mouser Electronics. The MLX90393 magnetometer is a fully programmable, extremely compact sensor IC designed for low-power applications. The EVB90393 evaluation board offers engineers a platform for constructing a wide variety of highly sophisticated human machine interfaces using the MLX90393 magnetometer.
The magnetometer and evaluation board accurately measure changes in magnetic flux density along the X, Y, and Z axes using the Hall coefficient and Melexis’ patented Triaxis technology.
The magnetometer is a highly flexible 3mm × 3mm sensor designed for micropower (2.2V – 3.5V, 5µA) applications, with programmable duty cycles from 0.1 percent to 100 percent.
The chip features on-board non-volatile memory to store calibration data on-chip. The sensor can interchange measurement speed for both current consumption and noise on the digital output signal, making it the raw building block for almost any magnetic sensing application.
The 30mm × 30mm evaluation board supports both SPI and I2C protocols for easy integration with an external microcontroller.
The board incorporates a pad for connecting a decoupling capacitor, if required, as well as pads for optional pull-up and pull-down resistors for I2C addressing and bus line supply.
The board is optimised for more complex 3D sensing systems, such as joysticks or rotary knobs with push functions.
