Development kits support low power MCU platform

Arrow Electronics engineers are standing by to help customers looking to take their first steps into IoT using Texas Instrument SimpleLink ultra-low power wireless microcontroller (MCU) platform.  The SimpleLink ultra-low power platform combines high levels of integration with a wide range of supported communications protocols including Bluetooth low energy, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, Sub-1 GHz and ZigBee RF4CE.

A series of ready-to-use protocol stacks makes the platform easy to design with and simplifies the task of creating products that support multiple wireless connectivity standards.

Featuring an ARM Cortex–M3 core, Flash memory, analogue-to-digital converter, peripherals, sensor controller and built-in on-chip security, the SimpleLink ultra-low power platform offers high functionality together with extremely low energy consumption.

This makes it particularly suited to battery-less energy harvesting applications and always-on applications that run for several years on a coin cell battery.

Peak radio currents are below 6.2mA and MCU active current is less than 61µA/MHz. The complete chip can stay in standby mode at only 1µA with memory retention and real time clock running. 

To get started developing, Arrow is offering the following kits:

•           CC2650DK:   Includes complete 2.4 GHz hardware, software and RF development platform for Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee and 6LoWPAN

•           CC2650EMK:  Includes two optimized plug-in boards to easily test RF performance with more nodes in a CC2650DK network

•           CC2650STK: The next-generation Bluetooth Smart SensorTag
