Representatives from Glamox, one of the leading lighting companies, were presented with a ‘Best of the Best’ design award at the Red Dot Award Ceremony at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.

Receiving the award for Glamox were Odd Thorvik, former R&D Manager, Hans Bleken Rud, Industrial Designer, and Andreas Murray from design company Permafrost.

The prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best in the ‘Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023’ category was given for Glamox’s Luxo Adapt, an free-standing LED office luminaire. This new family of desk luminaires, with a sleek minimalist profile and designed with flexibility in mind, was launched in the winter of 2022 and is manufactured in Kirkenær, Norway.

“We are thrilled to be in Germany and to see our work recognised by a Red Dot Best of the Best award. It shows that Scandinavian design is world-beating,” said Hans Bleken Rud, Industrial Designer at Glamox. “Our luminaire design combines functionality with subtle minimalist aesthetics. From the outset flexibility was key as we wanted the Adapt range to fit most desk configurations but with fewer lamps and wires. The result is a product that adapts to the user, not the other way around.”

Following the gala award ceremony was an after-show party at the Red Dot Design Museum.

Working on the design of Adapt with Hans Bleken Rud was Andreas Murray, industrial designer, from Permafrost, the award-winning design studio in Oslo.
