Astute Electronics Director awarded MOD Quality Ambassador
Astute Electronics' Sales and Marketing Director, Mark Shanley, is soon to be recognised with the 'John Bullock Quality Ambassador' award at the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Quality Awards 2023.
The award highlights his significant contribution to the MOD Counterfeit Avoidance Working Group (CAWG).
The CAWG is an initiative in partnership with the defence industry, concentrating on strategies to prevent counterfeit materials in the supply chain. Stephen Wilcock (MBE), MOD’s Director Engineering and Safety, lauded Mark's achievements, emphasising the exceptional quality of applications received for the award this year, with Mark’s contribution standing out.
Mark's recommendation for the accolade came from Kish Chandarana, MBDA’s Group Head Product Assurance Systems and Tools, who noted Mark's above-and-beyond approach as a supplier to the MOD and his invaluable expertise in the sector.
Responding to the honour, Mark Shanley shared his heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, underlining the collaboration with the MOD and the defence industry as a proud endeavour that contributes to the nation's defence capabilities.
The official presentation of the award will take place at the upcoming MOD Quality Event Awards Ceremony.
The threat posed by counterfeit materials in the defence industry has been under scrutiny since the early 2010s, prompting the creation of the CAWG. The group has been instrumental in advocating for quality assurance across NATO members and partner organisations. Mark Shanley's role in these efforts has not only raised the bar for quality standards but also cemented his standing as a leading authority on counterfeit avoidance, as this award aptly recognises.
