Vishay Intertechnology Releases Automotive Thin Film Chip Resistor With High Operating Temperature Range
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today introduced a new precision automotive thin film chip resistor featuring high-temperature operation to +155 °C with 100 % power, derated linearly to 0 mW power at +250°C. Providing a nearly 100 °C extension in operating temperature range over traditional thin film chip resistors, the AEC-Q200-qualified PATT offers a low absolute TCR as low as ± 25 ppm/°C and laser-trimmed tolerances down to ±0.1 %.
With a load-life stability of < 0.2 % at 155 °C and full rated power for 1000 hours, the Vishay Dale Thin Film resistor released today is optimized for the low-noise, single-signal processing required to compensate for low offset and temperature drift in high-temperature environments, including under-the-hood automotive applications; high-precision oil and gas exploration; and telecommunications and industrial equipment.
Offered today in the compact 0603 case size (with additional case sizes in development), the PATT resistor offers a wide resistance range from 2.75 Ω to 120 kΩ, with non-standard values available. The device features very low noise of < -35 dB, low voltage coefficients of 0.1 ppm/V, a power rating of 150 mW, and a 75 V maximum working voltage range.
The PATT features a high-purity ceramic substrate, 10 μin gold terminations over nickel barrier for high-temperature HMP soldering, and withstands ESD to 2 kV per AEC-Q200 Class 1C. The resistor is moisture resistant to MIL-STD-202, method 202; flame resistant in accordance to UL 94 V-0; sulfur resistant per ASTM B809-95 humid vapor test; and 100 % visually inspected per MIL-PRF-55342. The device is lead (Pb)-free, RoHS-compliant, and halogen-free, and conforms to Vishay "green" standards.
Samples and production quantities of the PATT resistor are available now, with lead times of eight weeks.
