Polymer capacitors are available in capacitances up to 220μF
Delivering stability and endurance under harsh humidity and temperature conditions, the T591 series of automotive grade polymer capacitors was introduced by KEMET at electronica 2014, which took place from 11th to 14th November. Rated for up to 10V, the high performance automotive grade polymer tantalum series is available in capacitances of up to 220μF.
Typical uses include decoupling and filtering of DC/DC converters in automotive infotainment and driver assistance applications, as well as industrial applications where harsh conditions such as high humidity and temperature are of concern.
The capacitors operate up to 125°C and are manufactured in an ISO TS 16949 certified plant. The T591 series qualification plan was based on AEC-Q200 guidelines and is available for production part approval process, part submission warrant and change control. In the coming months, KEMET will be introducing additional products with higher temperature ratings of up to 150°C and higher voltages of up to 63V.
"Polymer capacitors are very popular in today's high performance decoupling applications such as DC/DC converters," said Dr. Philip Lessner, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, KEMET. "The T591 series was developed with enhancements in polymer materials, design and manufacturing processes to meet the increasing demands of the telecommunications, industrial and, now, automotive segments."
