British comedian Jack Whitehall has recently expressed his support for Lunaz, a Silverstone-based upcycled electric vehicle firm.

Whitehall's investment in Lunaz comes through his green impact fund. This fund aims to make a positive environmental impact and has chosen to support Lunaz in its mission to upcycle vehicles that might otherwise be headed for the scrap heap.

Lunaz specialises in taking both passenger and industrial vehicles, which would typically be destined for scrapping, and gives them a new lease of life. The company does this by removing the original petrol or diesel engine and replacing it with a battery-driven powertrain. This process not only reduces the number of vehicles that end up as waste but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions by offering a cleaner alternative to traditional engines.

Commenting on his investment, Whitehall remarked: "What’s not to love about the Lunaz proposition? They are making the planet a better place by reducing emissions and preventing perfectly serviceable vehicles from being scrapped. The innovative process of vehicle upcycling is powerful, and I’m eager to spread the word about this transition from polluting vehicles to those offering cleaner air."

While Lunaz has gained recognition for converting classic cars, such as the Aston Martin DB6, Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, and Jaguar XK, into electric vehicles, the company has recently shifted its focus towards converting bin lorries. These lorries undergo the same transformation process, with the diesel engine replaced by an electric powertrain. Additionally, Lunaz upgrades these lorries by swapping out the original analogue gauges for a contemporary 12-inch display, which provides drivers with information on range, power consumption, and navigation.

David Lorenz, the Founder of Lunaz, stated: "At Lunaz, we create Upcycled Electric Vehicles (UEVs) of various kinds. Our aim is to save millions of tonnes in embedded carbon and recover billions in lost economic value. We are challenging the environmentally damaging cycle of replacing old with new."

It's worth noting that Whitehall is not the only well-known figure to invest in Lunaz. Former professional footballer David Beckham is also a key investor in the company, showcasing the growing interest in sustainable vehicle solutions.
